faraBut when I check in controller, iam not getting swift05:29
faraCan anyone help me out?05:29
*** ppai has joined #openstack-swift05:30
mattoliveraufara: in playbooks? You mean your using ansible to install a swift cluster or something?05:41
fara<mattoliverau>Its a mirantis based deployment05:45
farait tries to install cluster05:45
mattoliveraufara: no idea how that thing works then. But is the controller node the node that has all the clients?05:46
farayes05:47
*** dmorita has joined #openstack-swift05:49
mattoliveraufara: again I don't know how miratis' thing works, so I'm just guessing some possibilities. If they install the clients by git, they may have installed the client under a virtual env, and if so you'd need to source that before you get the swift command (that can happen in Openstack Ansible).05:50
mattoliveraufara: is there some sort of controller log? or a openrc with the env variable to set, if so you could install python-swift client yourself. Or hit the cluster API directly with curl to see if it's up and working. You may have to find a mirantis deployment irc channel to trouble shoot there deployment. But if it ends up being a Swift problem then we're happy to help in anyway we can05:53

fara<mattoliverau> swift-all.log: http://paste.openstack.org/show/583207/06:07
mattoliveraufara: the auth_url would be pointing to the keystone endpoint, the swift-all.log seems to suggest that the swift services seems to be running as expected. So if you can get a a token and swift end point from keystone you could poke the cluster. Again tho, no idea why the controller doesn't have the swift client installed... unless they just use the openstacl client (which has limitted subset of the Swift client06:11

claygtorgomatic: honestly I still keep thinking pipelined requests would be better than a mime document with a 100-continue in the middle21:29
torgomaticclayg: for the durable thing, I completely agree; I don't exactly know how to do that with the metadata in footers though21:30
claygtorgomatic: originally I thougth it would be a PUT + POST - but later I realized I was conflating the transport and the object-server action21:30
torgomaticso PUT obj (object body + magic trailing metadata), then POST obj?ruggedize=very-yes would do21:31
claygI think we could make a PUT who's respond carried some kind of id that could be used in a follow up request that makes the real .data on disk - basically add some xattrs to this tempfile and rename it into place21:31
torgomaticclayg: that might work; so the lifecycle is <hashdir>/X.tempfile --> <hashdir>/X.data --> <hashdir>/X.durable ?21:32
claygso it'd be PUT (here's the data, metadata will come later, just leave it in tmp or not named .data till further notice and give me an id too) + POST update this one and only item with this extra metadata21:32
claygtorgomatic: yeah something like that - i'm still thinking about it - just ... since it came up :P21:33
torgomaticclayg: okay... I'm gonna let that stew for a bit, but if that makes things easier, then I'm all for it21:33
claygit might not - and maybe redbo_ will tell me the MIME stuff isn't so bad and that chunked transfer is fine21:34
