NarenderHi, Can anyone tell me about ACL  Referer05:10
Narender?05:10
notmynameNarender: what about it?05:10
Narendernotmyname: I am new to swift, so I don't know anything about it..05:12
NarenderI think it solves the purpose when there are 3 users by name starting from A*.  Can I grant the ACL permission by mentioning X-Container-Read – A*  using ACL Referrer?05:13

NarenderI have read it, but still it's not clear much.05:35
Narendernotmyname: I have read it, but still it's not clear much.05:36
notmynameNarender: ya, I'll be the first to agree that i could be better05:36
notmynameNarender: ah, I found a different doc page that might be better https://platform.swiftstack.com/docs/cookbooks/swift_usage/container_acl.html05:38
Narendernotmyname: Ok, let me have a look05:38
Narendernotmyname: we were checking it already05:39
notmynameNarender: ok :-)05:39
notmynameNarender: so a referrer is one thing you can set an ACL on05:40
notmynameNarender: I think you can set a referrer with a wild card05:41
notmynameNarender: for example, set it to ".r:A*" and then any referer header starting with A would be allowed05:42
notmynameNarender: ah, I just looked at the code05:45
notmynameNarender: if I'm reading it right, then you don't need the wildcard for the referer domain. ie just set the end of the hostname. eg .example.com instead of *.example.com.05:46
notmynameNarender: but it does not look like *ample.com would work05:48
notmynameNarender: but in all of the above, I'm specifically talking about the referrer filtering. which is different than users. but you mentioned both05:49
notmynameNarender: for users, it depends a little what what auth system you are using05:50
*** Shivani has joined #openstack-swift05:51
notmynameNarender: but basically, you can either explicitly set every account that has access, or you can grand access to groups or roles (same thing, but different names in different auth systems)06:00

notmynamekevinc_: respectively the answers are "yes" and "no, not that I know of"16:20
notmynamekevinc_: so sure, you can do that. but I don't know of any public swift auth middleware that supports doing that16:20
acolesnotmyname: do you know of any magic to auto link to a spec from a code commit message, like 'blueprint' does?16:20
notmynamekevinc_: on the other hand, you could also put the middleware in the pipeline twice with two different config stanzas16:20
notmynameacoles: nope16:21
acolesthought not :)16:21
*** tdasilva has quit IRC16:23
kevinc_here is my situation, we have two (expensive) proxy servers setup for a reseller that almost never uses them. I need two servers for another project but I don't have the budget to purchase new servers, so I would like to move this reseller to the four other proxy servers. Is this possible?16:27
kevinc_with out having to migrate their accounts and data over.16:27
notmynamekevinc_: the proxies don't store any data. they just communicate with the storage nodes. so as long as the reseller prefixes stay the same and the cheaper proxies have access to the same cluser (storage nodes + ring), then everything works. basically, think of it like you have 6 proxies. you could use all 6 for both. or set up different hostnames for each16:29
notmynameie all your data migration has to do with storage nodes, not proxies16:29
notmynameI liked jeblair's email about the future of -infra and CI and testing in OpenStack. what I picked up is that swift's in-tree .functests are the recommended pattern for the future16:31
notmynamehttp://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-dev/2014-July/041057.html16:32
*** mwstorer has joined #openstack-swift16:36
kevinc_so we can run two middlewares with two different reseller_prefixes?16:40
kevinc_on the same proxy node?16:40
notmynamekevinc_: yup. that's entirely the point of the reseller prefix :-)16:40
notmynamekevinc_: so if both are using swauth, for example, you could add "swuath_foo" and "swauth_bar" to the pipeline. then make a config stanza for each. they'll load the same code (the "use" line), but they can have different other config values16:41
notmynamekevinc_: or eg you could run tempauth and swauth and etc all at the same time. as long as they have different reseller prefixes16:42
