I managed to get my tunnel working in the last minute 15:01:32 at the last minute 15:01:53 hi amrith, that's good 15:02:44 let's get started ... 15:03:01 #agenda https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Meetings/TroveMeeting 15:03:19 I didn't get a chance to update the agenda but there are a couple of things to discuss 15:03:44 I put some stuff in the open discussion. 15:03:55 but, given that there are a couple of us, let me ask whether it would be convenient to all to get on a webex now? songjian would that work for you? others (in the US), would this work for you? 15:04:44 it would go against what we determined in the last call. 15:05:04 what would? 15:05:06 .. i mean.. are we doing the biweekly call today or tomorrow? 15:05:08 using webex? 15:05:20 oh i guess we can just webex isntead of IRC meetings 15:05:26 im ok with that. 15:05:32 songjian are you there? 15:05:39 Sorry, just dropped 15:05:44 Now here 15:05:49 no worries, would a webex work for you? 15:06:09 I need to know, never touched 15:06:43 ok, let's defer it for now in that ase 15:06:45 in that case 15:06:54 the two things that I wanted to update everyone on were quick 15:07:04 1. I've tagged trove, dashboard and client for pike-b2 15:07:12 the changes are currently marked WF -1 15:07:27 #link https://review.openstack.org/#/c/471782/ 15:07:36 #link https://review.openstack.org/#/c/471783/ 15:07:39 #link https://review.openstack.org/#/c/471784 15:07:53 we managed to get all of Gabor Antal's changes in 15:07:53 #link https://review.openstack.org/#/q/status:open+amrith+project:openstack/releases 15:08:29 yay \o/ 15:09:24 I have also found that the change to pylint being proposed here 15:09:25 #link https://review.openstack.org/#/c/470042/13/test-requirements.txt 15:09:31 is breaking our gate :( 15:09:38 will have to handle that somehow 15:10:20 when I did the initial pylint stuff, I pinned astroid but the bot seems to want to change that 15:10:23 so we will have to handle it 15:10:43 The second thing I wanted to talk about was re: the trove reboot 15:10:45 2. trove reboot, what's the next step? 15:10:58 first, we'd said we'd have another all about this; trevor are you setting it up? 15:11:02 trevormc ^^ 15:11:27 oh I can host it again. I just need to figure out webex first. 15:11:36 doesn't have to be webex 15:11:39 you can use hangouts 15:11:39 because we said hangout will not work for future use right? 15:11:42 or whatever you want to use 15:11:43 ok hangouts is good 15:11:56 well, the 10 person limit may be a drag but ... 15:13:07 so to be clear, we are meeting at thursday UTC 1500 15:13:09 trevormc ^^ 15:13:26 ok, which thursday? not tomorrow, correct? 15:13:31 it was NEXT thursday 15:13:34 yes? 15:13:46 oh.. has it only been one week? 15:14:10 no its been two weeks, as of tomorrow. 15:14:15 I think it's been 2 15:14:30 call was hosted on 5/25 15:14:49 hmm, time flies when you are having fun 15:14:59 1500utc you say? 15:15:05 so tomorrow, 1500 UTC. originally was 1400 but we asked to move it down one hour 15:15:06 yes 15:15:25 yes please 1500 UTC 15:15:44 Think of the children. :) 15:16:03 yeah 1500 would be nice, tonight is karaoke night lol 15:16:07 * amrith wonders, when did SlickNik- get children? 15:16:24 ok, 1500UTC tomorrow it is 15:16:41 that covers 1 of my open discussion items 15:16:54 just a turn of phrase :P 15:17:41 aha 15:17:48 ok, sounds good. 15:18:03 so at that meeting (tomorrow), one of the things I'd like to explore is how we can do this reboot 15:18:23 my intention was to onboard new contributors quickly. 15:18:50 by being availabe in the call with their questions.. but we didnt have too many of those 15:19:17 #link https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/trove-reboot 15:20:06 the best judgement patch I don't think is working out.. I haven't had much to add to it since the initial draft. Maybe someone else should try? 15:20:59 .. so how we can do this reboot. 15:22:23 ok, I guess we can discuss that tomorrow 15:22:29 I agree 15:22:31 what's #2 on your list? 15:22:43 trevormc ^^ 15:22:47 Feel free to chime in on the module usage guide https://review.openstack.org/#/c/470404/ 15:23:09 I am working on more trove documentation.. instead of the dev how tos. I'll just be putting them in the user/admin guides 15:23:46 thats all 15:23:56 ok, will look at the review 15:24:07 anyone have anything else? 15:24:14 #topic open discussion 15:24:26 China's network may have some problems (bad walls)... So hopefully, there will be a record of documentation, so it's easy to see, THX 15:24:40 for trove reboot 15:25:16 we will capture the important things in the etherpad.. but a transcript like traditional meetings wont be available. 15:25:39 One roadblock I have is I don't have x86 environments available where I can do nested virt. Yesterday I succeeded in getting an OSA deployed overcloud on ppc64le KVM and got nested VMs active and could SSH into them. 15:26:03 songjian, I can echo most things in the #openstack-trove channel if that is helpful to you 15:26:14 Well, that's enough. I'll check it out 15:26:19 thx, trevormc 15:26:53 Trove deployment had a hiccup with OSA at master/pike. The global pin to move neutron client to 6.3.0 in trove requirements broke the build of the venv. I had to revert to a commit before that landed to get it working. 15:27:24 I think it's a point-in-time issue as Nova also moved to 6.3.0 neutronclient but OSA did not advance the commit SHA it pulls for Nova, possibly because of that issue. 15:27:48 sounds like an OSA issue? 15:28:33 for deploying trove, we mostly use trovestack (tripleo + dib) right? 15:28:34 smatzek what is this? 15:28:54 what is OSA? 15:28:59 openstack ansible 15:29:11 likely 2 or more issues. OSA could change to a commit sha earlier than the requirements bump as they have done with Nova. However, my guess is that the requirements conflict will be worked out at somepoint for Nova and then trove will work. 15:29:11 * amrith sighs 15:29:55 tripleo is one deployment tech, openstack-kolla is another, trovestack, devstack, OSA. We'll likely be sticking with OSA for various reasons. 15:30:51 trovestack may be worth looking into.. considering we gate on it. right? 15:31:11 trovestack has some pretty tangled dependencies on needing x86 I'm told. 15:31:43 smatzek trevormc this sounds like an issue that would be great for both of you to pick up offline, yes? 15:31:59 yeah i agree 15:32:13 amrith, agree for offline that is 15:32:14 when the change to requirements lands in Trove, you'll be all synced. but this week is release week 15:32:18 yep, just giving status on Trove deployment, setup, onboarding 15:32:22 so expect projects to have divergence 15:32:28 on requirements 15:32:51 great, thanks smatzek 15:33:00 anyone have anything else they'd like to chat about? 15:33:21 nothing here 15:33:34 nothing 15:33:57 going once 15:34:06 nothing else from me either 15:37:18 going twice 15:37:47 thanks everyone, reminder that we'll have a hangout meeting tomorrow, 1500UTC. trevormc will send out details to the ML. 15:37:56 yes i will 15:38:01 #action trevormc to send details to the ML about reboot meeting 15:38:09 thanks everyone 15:38:12 #endmeeting
