14:03:56 <shintaro> o/
14:03:57 <openstack> The meeting name has been set to 'ops_meetup_team'
14:04:02 <mihalis68_> #link https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/ops-meetups-team
14:04:08 <mihalis68_> (I haven't put an agenda up yet)
14:05:22 <spotz> Hey
14:05:22 <shintaro> I have created an etherpad page for Forum Ops LT session and put it on the Forum wiki #link https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Forum/Denver2019
14:05:24 <med_> pong
14:05:36 <mihalis68_> #topic actions
14:05:53 <mihalis68_> I had an action to make a twitter account for ops notifications, that's done
14:06:02 <smcginnis> \o/
14:06:16 <shintaro> my action to create etherpad for Forum LT session #link https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/DEN-ops-war-stories-LT
14:06:32 <smcginnis> 40 followers on that twitter account.
14:06:47 <med_> I took an action to be social director for Summit/PTG. I need to know what nights most ops folks are in town (that are coming).
14:07:06 <mihalis68_> see https://twitter.com/osopsmeetup?lang=en
14:07:09 <med_> here: who's coming to Summit/PTG and which nights.
14:07:33 * med_ is all week so will work around other's schedules
14:08:40 <med_> Likely I'll just follow Erik's lead and do Wynkoop upper.
14:08:43 <mihalis68_> the other overdue thing is an update on our possible hosting of a meetup in the summer/early autumn. I'm catching up with our guy who approves things this week
14:08:50 <mihalis68_> that place was good
14:08:58 <spotz> I’ll be there Sunday morning to Friday night
14:09:04 <shintaro> I'll only attend the Summit/Forum but not during PTG
14:09:07 <med_> thanks spotz
14:09:13 <med_> thanks shintaro
14:09:27 <med_> smcginnis, all week?
14:09:47 <emccormick> o/
14:09:51 <smcginnis> med_: Yep, Saturday to Saturday for me.
14:09:55 <med_> mrhillsman, all week? emccormick all week at Infra Summit and PTG
14:10:17 <emccormick> I'm only there for the summit
14:10:21 <med_> kk
14:10:23 <emccormick> Sunday - Thursday
14:10:38 <mihalis68_> #topic denver
14:10:40 <med_> that's probably enough data points. I'll look for a Summit evening at Wynkoop
14:11:16 <med_> so sounds like PTG for Ops is going to be ... sparse
14:11:23 <emccormick> There's a very large area upstairs with pool tables. As long as there's not a baseball game they're usually pretty empty up there they say
14:11:29 * med_ will sit in Nova most likely
14:11:46 <med_> emccormick, danke.
14:12:50 <mihalis68_> just in case anyone is interested, I created that ops twitter, but shared credentials with a few ops meetups team members to ensure continuity. The style is strictly low-volume, highly relevant content only, encouraging all operators to follow who, perhaps, can't follow the mailing list
14:13:21 <mihalis68_> it was nifty to be able to tweet about the CERN thing and Curtis' Collicutt's Toronto meetup
14:13:33 <mihalis68_> as Sean says, 40 followers. Please share and amplify!
14:14:25 <emccormick> probably already a larger audience than the mailing list has been giving us ;)
14:14:30 <mihalis68_> agreed
14:14:37 <med_> #sadbuttrue
14:14:49 <mihalis68_> if people want me to tweet out stuff from that account, you can fwd to me, I am happy to run it
14:15:01 <smcginnis> #link https://twitter.com/osopsmeetup
14:15:08 <med_> mihalis68_, when I settle on a data for Ops Beers, I'll tweet something and ask osopstwitter to retweet.
14:15:09 <emccormick> I think sharing the local meetup things sometimes is good for drawing the local meetup groups into the global thing
14:15:13 <emccormick> let's keep that up
14:15:33 <emccormick> +1 med_
14:15:42 <mihalis68_> on the topic of PTG, it's unfortunate but the experiment of combining ops meetups into PTG was terminated without discussion with us
14:16:05 <emccormick> oh, I thought we terminated it ;)
14:16:15 <emccormick> or at least it was a mutual breakup due to lack of participation
14:16:40 <mihalis68_> I provided feedback that it didn't work very well. I don't recall being asked for an opinion on PTG being merged back into summits
14:17:09 <mihalis68_> I definitely do agree on tweeting out social reminders
14:17:20 <mihalis68_> and local meetup stuffs
14:17:28 <spotz> It was during a board meeting I think
14:18:06 <mihalis68_> right. NOTHING TO DO WITH OPERATORS GOT IT
14:19:04 <mihalis68_> sorry to SHOUT, it's a bad habit from a different chat I'm on
14:19:21 <mihalis68_> it's just... at this stage would it be a surprise to anyone that ops aren't going to PTG?
14:19:35 <spotz> And I meant the PTG going back to Summit not ops
14:19:43 <mrhillsman> i am going to only the summit
14:20:01 <mrhillsman> if anyone wants to attend ptg they can have my ticket
14:20:08 <smcginnis> There' wasn't a lot of request for feedback on the PTG going back to the Summit.
14:20:23 <mrhillsman> if not I'll hit up foundation and donate it
14:21:38 <mihalis68_> perhaps this topic is already done to death
14:21:49 <mihalis68_> any more on denver?
14:23:01 <mihalis68_> #topic meetup 2 2019
14:24:08 <mihalis68_> I am meeting with my colleague this week to discuss us hosting somethign but it looks like september 3 and 4 are pencilled in from what I see in the approval tickets
14:24:52 <mihalis68_> venue would be my office, 120 Park Avenue, which is right by Grand Central
14:25:06 <smcginnis> Sounds great!
14:25:47 <mihalis68_> if I understand it right, I can put in the hosting proposal etherpad soon
14:26:06 <mihalis68_> we have a large audiovisual room and two breakouts, and lunch will be provided
14:26:22 <shintaro> love to go back to NYC!
14:26:23 <mihalis68_> again... this is not an offer this is what it looks like our offer will be if I understand correctly that it's cleared now
14:26:43 <smcginnis> Fingers crossed it all works out.
14:26:59 <smcginnis> I think NYC would be a great location, geographically speaking, for a meetup.
14:27:07 <mihalis68_> given previous meetups experience, I think we probably need to start working on it ASAP
14:27:28 <med_> mihalis68_, fingers are crossed.
14:27:43 <med_> (my fingers, for all of us)
14:28:00 <emccormick> yes earlier the better
14:28:46 <smcginnis> ++
14:29:32 <emccormick> sorry I've been terribly distracted today and missed a lot of Denver talk. We should get our forum etherpads set up ASAP. I'm going to try and get mine done by this weekend
14:29:49 <emccormick> shintaro when you get the war stories one set up we can tweet that out
14:30:10 <mihalis68_> the war stories etherpad is started, link above
14:30:11 * med_ suspects when he sees an OsOps tweet about NYC Sept 3/4 it will be "real"
14:30:15 <shintaro> yes it's ready
14:30:18 <emccormick> oh sweet
14:30:21 <mihalis68_> <shintaro> my action to create etherpad for Forum LT session #link https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/DEN-ops-war-stories-LT
14:31:25 <mihalis68_> the one thing I don't understand yet is "tickets". We can't charge for the meetup so it's going to be a little different. We do have a web based signup thing I think. That's what I have to discuss and understand
14:32:02 <spotz> mihalis68_: We do a google form for events at Summit like speed mentoring so you have names and a count of people
14:32:22 <spotz> You could also just do a free ticket on eventbrite?
14:32:28 <mihalis68_> yes I imagine I will be able to see attendees
14:32:36 <mihalis68_> "registrees"?
14:32:59 <mihalis68_> can't use evenbrite - this area I don't understand fully but they did say that
14:33:15 <emccormick> erm what did you do last time?
14:33:16 <spotz> Ok so we could use a google form?
14:33:21 <emccormick> or is it new policy?
14:34:13 <mihalis68_> since last time, bloomberg has gotten much more into the open source community and now has its own sign-up system for events we host
14:34:39 <med_> fair enough
14:34:40 <mihalis68_> it's all built and in use, just not familiar to me
14:34:51 <emccormick> ah cool
14:35:10 <med_> it's probably more open than Eventbrite is then.
14:35:15 <spotz> +1 to Bloomberg!
14:35:43 <mihalis68_> mmm, don't want to agree based on zero knowledge It's probably in effect a proprietary system (even if built with lots of open source)
14:36:31 <mihalis68_> #topic any other business
14:36:37 <mihalis68_> think we covered everything
14:36:45 <mihalis68_> I don't have much to add about denver obviously
14:37:05 <emccormick> nothing new from me
14:37:15 <mihalis68_> one random chore I'll try to take care of is I saw an email from Rico Lin asking for status on Ops Docs SIG
14:37:21 <emccormick> and for event signup I don't care if it's proprietary
14:37:30 <mihalis68_> I'll respond - there isn't much to report there since Sean set it up
14:37:41 <emccormick> there are limits to the open everything mantra ;)
14:37:43 <mihalis68_> unfortunately - feel bad
14:38:00 <smcginnis> mihalis68_: Thanks, I haven't had time to respond to that.
14:38:28 <mihalis68_> for those who don't follow (if anyone?) Ops Docs SIG is a threadbare SIG sufficient to hold ownership of the ops related docs we rescued from oblivion
14:38:30 <spotz> Well and the fact the OPS doc SIG was really just for ownership of the repo more then being a separate group
14:38:44 <mihalis68_> Sean got it up and running so that those docs can continue publishing into docs.openstack.org
14:38:54 <mihalis68_> however the promised document updates are delayed
14:39:10 <emccormick> Oh, this does bring a tangential question to my mind
14:39:40 <emccormick> there's an ML thread about the powervm stuff which lead to a discussion of sigs with code repos
14:40:09 <emccormick> ops docs is there on the list that someone made, but neither that nor the others are code
14:40:19 <emccormick> however there are all the osops-* ones
14:40:39 <mihalis68_> ops docs are "code-like" - pull requests, merging, a build process...
14:40:43 <emccormick> who technically owns those these days? I see stuff get submitted once in a while, and someone's reviewing it when required.
14:41:08 <emccormick> yeah the discussion was about actual python going into projects and getting deployed
14:42:15 <emccormick> just brought up to my mind those ospos things. I dunno who runs them anymore though. I thought it was kinda its own group but I dunno anymore
14:43:16 <emccormick> https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Osops
14:43:38 <mihalis68_> I've never looked at those, so can't offer any insight
14:44:45 <mihalis68_> guess nobody knows
14:44:53 <emccormick> oh well :)
14:45:00 <mihalis68_> any other points from anyone? if not we can adjourn and clawback 15 minutes!
14:45:08 <emccormick> anywho. Nothing else from me then
14:45:10 <med_> 2nd adjourn
14:45:25 <med_> cheers!
