17:01:23 #startmeeting diversity-we 17:01:24 Meeting started Mon Jan 28 17:01:23 2019 UTC and is due to finish in 60 minutes. The chair is spotz. Information about MeetBot at http://wiki.debian.org/MeetBot. 17:01:25 Useful Commands: #action #agreed #help #info #idea #link #topic #startvote. 17:01:27 The meeting name has been set to 'diversity_we' 17:02:29 Hello 17:02:38 #topic roll call 17:02:48 Hey 17:04:41 #link https://etherpad.openstack.org/p/diversity-wg-agenda 17:05:43 That’s the agenda really short 17:06:24 So it is :) 17:07:10 I’m also not on a computer so I can’t tab complete names:( Need to set up my chrome book until I get a new machine 17:07:54 We’ll give folks a few. Colleen has a conflict for another meeting or two then will be back, fungi is on vacation 17:08:23 Sounds good. 17:08:37 As I'm sure you guessed, I'm on my phone. 17:08:43 Yeah:) 17:09:40 #topic Survey 17:10:20 As of this morning a price says we have 131 responses. That’s up about 50 since our last check so the reminder email/community newsletter helped. 17:10:36 She’ll be including the survey in Wednesday’s newsletter as well. 17:11:25 I’ll reach out to the CHAOSS folks about analyzing the data so we’re ready for the end of the survey at the end of February 17:12:13 Sounds good, if the is anything you want me to do at the CHAOSS event in Brussels Friday, let me know. 17:12:46 We’ll definitely not re-do the survey in 2019, but we can discuss at a later date when we do want to aim for a potential review, rewrite and resend 17:13:07 Um maybe just give Mark a heads up? 17:14:49 Hey 17:14:57 hi 17:15:40 I didn’t put in a CFP for the survey, I figured we could use our WG slot for it 17:15:54 I filled it out last week. :) 17:15:58 spotz: Mark...? 17:16:07 Oh duh Matt:) 17:16:41 There’s a MArc and a Mark at the new place 17:17:06 Still looking for a last name ;) 17:18:27 Germanoprez 17:19:05 I don't think I've met him yet, but maybe Friday :) 17:19:27 Pretty sure he’ll be there if not mention it to Georg 17:20:14 Anything else on survey? 17:21:15 #topic summit 17:23:08 As I noted on the ether pad I submitted 2 CFPs which will fall under D&I but shouldn’t go through the voting. The Speed Mentoring and Git and Gerrit. Then we’ll have a BoF session which was used for mentoring in Berlin and our WG session which I’m thinking might be a presentation of the survey. Depending on mentoring we may have the BoF session to use for the main group as well 17:26:19 I’ll look and see if there’s anything we can do nearby as a D&I outing, maybe talk to Monty about his diving outing though unfortunately the certs needed to dive don’t really make it inclusive though I am considering it if I can find one of my dive cards:) In all likelihood I’ll be there on vacation, but we’ll see 17:26:55 Diving? 17:27:01 As in scuba? 17:27:15 You can do an organized dive in the tanks at the aquarium apparently 17:27:34 Oh. Thanks for the clarification. I was trying to figure out what ocean was near Denver. ;) 17:27:35 spotz: we also have sponsors for both formerly known as woo lunches 17:27:46 That's awesome! 17:28:00 Oh so the speed and networking? 17:28:44 He’s also planning a lake dive near SLC but you need your own gear for that one 17:29:18 Yes 17:30:06 Cool, that’ll help out a lot. Speed kinda fell off the radar until the last minute last time which is why I did the CFP for it 17:30:53 Do we know who’s sponsoring which? 17:32:04 I thought both went well last time. The community table was crowded and lively and a few connections were made. Some followed up with me to start groups in Europe. It was effective. 17:32:53 Could be an interesting topic again now that so many of our user groups have rebranded. 17:33:27 It turned out ok, but we didn’t have table cards, we sent out info to mentors but then had other mentors added in I didn’t even know of:( 17:33:55 We’ll have the same 3 topic areas, I think they work out well 17:34:55 Table cards would be good but there weren't so many tables last time so making that announcement at each session worked well enough i thought. But table cards are good for those that come in late 17:35:26 (i might be confusing the two sessions though.) 17:35:29 Yeah and help with rotation, tech had one round with duplicate mentors but it was all good 17:35:50 spotz: intel is sponsoring speed mentoring and IBM is sponsoring the diversity lunch 17:35:56 I think lol 17:36:07 No one rotated off my table. Everyone doubled down for the second session. It was a good conv so folks didn't want to leave 17:36:07 Yeah that's right I think 17:36:30 Interesting IBM is back:) 17:36:38 that IS interesting! 17:36:40 But Red Hat so makes sense:) 17:36:55 And Intel nearly always sponsors the lunch. Interesting switch 17:37:04 ahhh yes. RH. right. 17:37:22 Intel does one or the other, so they’re back to speed mentoring like in Vancouver 17:38:22 But it’s all good more visibility for D&I and maybe we can mention the regular mentoring program during the speed mentoring as I don’t think we normally do 17:39:16 Another mention of the D&I activities during day 1 mainstage keynote will be awesome if we can make that happen again 17:41:14 Yes we should promote the WG more 17:41:39 Not sure they have started on keynote planning much yet but I can ask. 17:42:08 And hopefully we’ll get out alcohol free section at the mixer, had a talk about it with Erin and Allison a while ago 17:42:18 Out=our 17:43:28 Did we have a mixer in Berlin? I'm blanking. 17:43:41 We did, Tuesday night 17:43:54 In the expo hall marketplace? Or offsite? 17:44:01 Marketplace 17:44:13 (Was I there?) (If so, clearly NOT in the alc free zone! (eyeroll) 17:44:20 There was the pub crawl on Wednesday when D&I had the Nightwatch Tour 17:44:47 Ahhhh, i did not to the pubcrawl. I think I was prepping my talk or something. 17:45:24 I did the marketplace thing because we were supposed to have an ambassadors meet and greet but signage didn't show up so it was a little confusing. Okay, neither here nor there. 17:45:56 A lot of things got held up in customs like the gender stickers 17:46:21 Awwww. Bummer! Well, the customs in Denver aren't as strict. Most things are legal there now! ;) 17:46:52 Yeah we won’t have those issues for Denver 17:48:28 As it gets a little closer we can start sending out notices. After this meeting we’ll have our first D&I tweet maybe email as well, just with a heads up of what we have going on 17:49:34 Just trying to get the group a little PR 17:50:18 I like the new OI Newsletter that's going out. Well done APrice! :) 17:50:34 Anything else on the topic of summit? 17:52:44 I have one quick thing for open discussion 17:52:55 Ok 17:53:02 #topic Open Discussion 17:54:52 I was approached for an article featuring African-American women in open source. If there are any other Black women contributing to open source on this thread who want to be involved, ping me and I'll get you in touch with Shilla. (Or ping Shilla directly. She's managing the project. :) 17:56:28 oh wait... I didn't mean to say women. The article features Black PEOPLE in open source. 17:57:55 No one on this channel besides you I don’t think. I know there’s a few Linux groups but I think more ops then Open Source 17:58:40 okay. Well maybe someone will read the eavesdrop and will ping later. ;) 17:58:43 IGrr there’s someone in OSA for sure, but will need to find his nick for you 17:59:16 He’s not logged in right now 17:59:30 Anything else we have 1 minute left 17:59:34 I've rounded up the usual suspects, but may have missed someone. No rush. 18:00:05 Nope. Hope everyone got their CFP in last week. :) Hope we all get to meet again in DEN! 18:00:40 * SWDevAngel waves 18:01:28 #endmeeting
