odyssey4meHi everyone.12:52
odyssey4meWith thanks to michaelgugino, we have a deployment role for Watcher which is probably close to ready for integration with OpenStack-Ansible. https://github.com/openstack/openstack-ansible-os_watcher12:53
vincentfrancoisehi odyssey4me12:53
vincentfrancoiseThat's great news!12:53
odyssey4meMichael is a core voter for that repository and has discretion for adding additional team members.12:53
odyssey4meWe, as a community, are completely happy with allowing the watcher core team to be added as core members for the repository.12:54
odyssey4meIn our view it would help keep the role maintained and improve its production-readiness.12:54
odyssey4mePlease discuss it with him when he comes online. You may wish to refer to the eavesdrop logs when doing so - I'm on holiday today and tomorrow.12:55
odyssey4meI'm mindful of the Newton3 feature freeze, so I'd really like it if we could pull together as a combined community to ensure that Watcher is included in our integrated build for the Newton release.12:56
vincentfrancoiseOk thanks for the heads up, we'll discuss this with him, maybe during our weekly meeting that is due tomorrow12:57
odyssey4meThe integrated build is typically what deployers consume for production usage... and we have over 100 deployments of varying sizes, so I think it'd be fantastic for the Watcher community to get feedback from deployers testing it.12:57
vincentfrancoiseIn the meantime, could you please add dtardivel and myself as cores on this repo then?12:57

vincentfrancoiseI just made a review on your changeset14:41
vincentfrancoiseI was wondering about the bindep library14:42
vincentfrancoisedo you know if we have to/should add this in the main watcher repo?14:42
vincentfrancoiseI mean, the bindep.txt14:43
michaelguginoLet me pull up the review..14:43
vincentfrancoiseok :)14:43
michaelguginovincentfrancoise: yes, I'm still working on initial role setup tasks.  These are all things that need to be in place for the CI environment / OpenStack Ansible requirements14:46
michaelguginothe bindep library is for the CI environment and testing.  It's not used during the consumption of the role.14:46
vincentfrancoiseyes but do you know if I should also add a bindep.txt in the main openstack/watcher project as well?14:47
michaelguginoI don't think it's necessary, I didn't need to install any dependencies specific to watcher to get it installed.14:48
vincentfrancoiseI'm asking because I vaguely followed the thread on the lainling list but didn't catch up the actual use of it much14:48
vincentfrancoisethanks for the heads up :)14:49
michaelguginoIt's nice to have if your project requires certain packages to be functional.  In OpenStack ansible's case, python request libraries don't have TLS SNI support baked in, and that breaks a few steps.  So, the bindep we are including is focused around that.14:49
vincentfrancoiseok, I saw that barbican was adding it but I was wondering if it was useful for us to add it even if it meant leaving it empty14:50
michaelguginovincentfrancoise: probably not.  According to the notes in the file, the CI environment will install a set of default packages of bindep.txt is not found.  So, including a blank one might break it.14:51
michaelguginoI'm definitely not expert on this, so feel free to poke the cores in openstack-ansible.  They're always around14:52
vincentfrancoiseI see14:52
vincentfrancoisemichaelgugino: that's good enough for me to know for now, thanks14:52
michaelguginoyw14:53
vincentfrancoisemy point was to avoid missing something that may become somewhat required in the nearby future14:53
