gmanntc-members: updated 2023.1 testing runtime for c9s as 'best effort' testing distro20:47
clarkbgmann: out of curiousity was any consideratio given to rocky linux 9 instead?20:53
fungiit came up in yesterday's tc meeting20:54
clarkbah ok I should read scrollback then20:55
fungibut we only just got rocky 9 nodesets added to base a day or two ago, so i'm not sure if any projects have really tried to run many jobs on it yet20:55
fungiand availability was repeatedly hampered by boot-time problems with the images (hopefully resolved for good now)20:55
clarkbprobably not but it is still a month and a half from when it matters. And in theory it should be able to slot in where centos stream 9 was pretty easily20:55
fungibut also, the same python version is available on debian bullseye which was already being included in the pti20:56
gmannmay be in next cycle once devstack also will be ready with the passing job?20:56
gmannin 2023.1, moving to ubuntu jammy will also be more work20:57
clarkbright 2023.1 is the next cycle is my point20:57
clarkbI don't personally care too much myself20:58
clarkbso won't argue for it eithre way. Was just wanting to point out we hvae a stable rhel stand in image now and the next cycle is a good time to try and commit to that if it is a  goal20:58
gmannnext I mean 2023.2 for RL20:58
gmann2023.1 to move to ubuntu jammy and 2023.2 for RL to consider once we have few job running on RL21:00
fungireally it's more about trying to properly record what testing is being done. i think centos stream 9 will be just as heavily tested in 2023.1 as it is in zed, which is to say mostly leaning on tripleo's test results. i seriously doubt tripleo will stop testing centos, and if they do then it will probably be by swapping to rocky anyway21:00
fungiwhich is to say, centos stream 9 isn't really anywhere near being as thoroughly tested as ubuntu focal even in zed, the pti for zed simply gives an impression that it is21:02
clarkbfungi: ya the only issue with that is if you want to use centos as a local dev system there is a gap between what you'd run for dev (unittests and devstack) and what tripleo is doing21:02
fungiright, but that's the case now too21:03
clarkbyup not a regression.21:03
fungithe zed pti is simply misleading21:03

clarkbgmann: the doc says nodejs 16 is the version chosen due to availability on the lts distros. Jammy and bullseye have  nodejs 12 not 16. I think 16 is the right choice but yo umay want to update the text in there22:26
fungiagreed, nodejs 16 is first available in ubuntu karmic, debian jumps from 12 in bullseye to 18 in bookworm22:36
fungiso anything using nodejs 16 on ubuntu jammy or debian bullseye is getting it from somewhere outside those distros22:37
fungi(e.g. nodesource)22:38
