mnaserI (as a long term contributor to openstack) am losing patience over a project that hasn’t landed changes/fixes for over 1.5 months (not just mine, any) — what incentive do I have to continue pursuing and pushing upstream fixes and not just run downstream patches and save me the headache ?19:58
mnaserwe gotta figure out a way to hold those projects somewhat accountable since they might be contributing to their own decrease in contributions …19:58
fungiif they're not keeping up with reviewing proposed changes and there are people offering to help review those but not getting onboarded as additional reviewers, then i agree that's something which needs to be addressed. if they're not keeping up with reviews and there are no volunteers to help with that, then i'm not sure what can be done21:09
fungiultimately, the tc can choose to override individual project leadership in such matters, though it's a bit of a nuclear option21:11
fungias far as accountability, that's something which can be applied to people but not to the software itself. if the project has no people reviewing changes, there's nobody to hold accountable. available volunteers can be added, or the project can be declared abandoned21:12
fungiand i do completely get your frustration, mnaser, i myself spend a lot of time struggling on both sides of that problem (people ignoring my changes, and also me lacking the available bandwidth to keep up with reviewing others' changes)21:19
