fricklertc-members: do you know if anyone is still looking at https://opendev.org/openstack/training-labs ? seems to be pretty abandoned, maybe mark it as such?11:49
frickler(someone trying to use it showed up in #openstack)11:49
fungiits outdatedness is also somewhat related to the coa exam being based on outdated openstack releases because turn around time to get the exam refreshed and distributed is on the order of years11:52

gmannfrickler: thanks for brought this up. I will check in openstack upstream institute if that is used somewhere in training or just by foundation for CoE. accordingly we can move it under x/ or foundation namespace 14:04
fungiit's currently tracked as a repo for the tw sig, which we know is now defunct, so yes anything we can do to retire or find new homes for repos like that one would be good14:09
fungithe last substantive changes to land in training-labs were in march of 2020, though someone pushed up some reviews for updating it a few weeks ago14:12

gmann#link https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Meetings/TechnicalCommittee15:02
gmann^^ today agenda15:02
gmann#topic Follow up on past action items15:03
gmannwe had one action item15:03
gmannmnaser to check with doc SIG chair and close it and move SIG repo under TC and add tc-members as core15:03
gmannI have added tc-members in the core list of those repo15:03
yoctozepto++15:03
gmannand other part we will discuss next in separate topic as few more question on training repo part15:04
gmann#topic Gate health check (dansmith/yoctozepto)15:04
dansmithno complaints at the moment15:04
yoctozeptosame here15:04
jungleboyjSeems to be good.15:05
fungiwe've had some recent zuul regressions related to moving its internal state into zookeeper as we work toward the highly available scheduler for v5, but have mostly been able to hide the pain from users15:05
fungibut there have been a few restarts and some "stuck" builds here and there15:06
gmannok15:08
gmannthere is one in stable/train for d-g PyYAML-6.015:08
gmannwhich is fixed by frickler and now approved too15:09
fungiyeah, pyyaml 6 drops support for yaml.load() if you don't specify a loader to use, it previously just warned noisily15:09
fungialso there's been continued pain from suds-jurko not working with setuptools>=5815:09
gmannyeah, even few more lib 15:09
gmannwe discussed this in this week qa meeting15:10
fungiright, there's been like half a dozen affected, suds-jurko was just the latest one to crop up as being a problem15:10
gmann#link https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/requirements/+/81330215:10
fungithough it's also been widely discussed that we should be dropping suds-jurko in favor of maintained alternatives15:11
gmannonly possible step is to replace with other alternate lib or remove the deps itself15:11
gmannanyjson too15:11
gmannwe discussed to trigger or start the discussion from requirement side, by dropping it and notify the failing projects15:12
gmannfrickler: was testing how many project/test fails with that.15:12
gmannlet's wait for that and discuss on ML first15:13
gmannanything else on Gate checks? 15:14
gmann#topic Project Health checks framework15:14
gmannI think we will continue discussing it in PTG on best way to present / use those stats15:14
gmannmoving on...15:15
gmann#topic Stable team process change15:15
gmann#link https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/governance/+/81072115:15
gmannit is updated now, please review the latest PS15:16
jungleboyj++ Hadn't seen any comments as of yesterday.15:16
gmannit looks good to me15:17
jungleboyj\o/15:17
gmannanything else to discuss on this except review and comment there if any ?15:18
gmannok, let's move then15:19
gmann#topic Technical Writing (doc) SIG need a chair and more maintainers15:19
gmannas i mentioned in starting, I added tc-members in the repos under this SIG 15:20
*** pojadhav|ruck is now known as pojadhav|out15:20
gmannand frickler brought the non-maintained state of openstack/training-labs which is a repo under this SIG 15:20
gmannin last meeting, we discussed that we can move all the repo of this SIG to TC15:20
gmannbut by seeing those i details, I feel like trainings repo make sense to move under FC SIG instead of TC15:21
yoctozeptoagreed15:21
gmannopenstack/training-labs  openstack/training-guides openstack/upstream-institute-virtual-environment15:21
gmann^^ especially these three15:21
gmannor to other place where it suite more like under foundation or so15:22
fungidoes the fc sig handle certified openstack operator testing?15:22
fungithat's what training-labs is "training" people for15:22
gmannfungi: no.15:22
gmannFC make use of openstack/upstream-institute-virtual-environment and openstack/training-guides at least15:22
gmannfor the upstream training site and virtual image for hands-on in training15:23
fungiyeah, the repos related to upstream institute would potentially make sense under the fc sig15:23
fungibut presumably not the training-labs repo15:23
gmanni quickly discussed about it with ildikov too and she is not aware of openstack/training-labs usage 15:23
gmannyeah, openstack/training-labs seems not in use seems15:24
gmannlet's discuss this in next week in PTG when kendal and ildikov will be there who handle the training parts at least upstream one15:24
fungiwell, it's not being maintained/reviewed. people do still seem to use it to train for the certification, as evidenced by someone pushing updates for it a few weeks ago15:24
gmannI will add it in PTG etherpad15:24
fungibut i agree, the coa is primarily driven by the foundation, so it would make sense for them to decide what should be done with the training-labs repo and find new volunteers to take it over, or retire it15:25
gmann'people do still seem to use it to train for the certification,'  you mean corporate trainings? or from foundation side15:25
gmannyeah15:26
fungigmann: that's just it, it's hard to know who's using it and for what, since they don't have to tell us15:26
gmannfungi: i see. 15:27
gmanni have added this in PTG etherpad to discuss next week15:27
gmannanything else on this?15:28
gmann#topic Place to maintain the external hosted ELK, E-R, O-H services15:28
gmannI tried to summarize it in ML #link http://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-discuss/2021-October/025251.html15:29
gmannwith same section heading15:29
spotz_Hey all here late and no scroll back15:30
gmannI think we are all set here and wendar will be working on setting up the AWS accounts or so. 15:30
gmannspotz_: hi15:30
jungleboyjgmann: ++15:30
gmannfungi: I think you have read the summary.  as discussed in last to last week meeting also, we will start this work in TacT SIG and dpawlik wendar and Ross Tomlinson will be helping on the migration/maintenance  part15:31
dansmithI'm super happy we seem to have a path here15:32
gmannand now onwards discussion can be in openstack-infra channel unless anything from TC side is required 15:32
dansmithbecause I really thought this was going to end in tears15:32
gmanndansmith: yeah15:32
jungleboyjdansmith:  Indeed.15:33
gmannthis is super help for us.15:33
fungiyeah, the tact sig is mainly just an umbrella the new effort can stand under, it's not really going to involve the current tact sig members in the building and running of it15:33
funginor the opendev sysadmins15:33
gmannfungi: agree. 15:34
fungieigenstate is sponsoring a contract developer to do the ingestion pieces, and dpawlik is leading the way on the log scraping part15:34
gmannalong with wendar , huge thanks to dpawlik also for volunteering to help here. 15:34
gmann+115:34
jungleboyj++15:35
gmannI will remove this topic from our next meeting agenda15:35
gmannanything else on this topic?15:36
yoctozepto++15:36
gmann#topic Open Reviews15:36
gmann#link https://review.opendev.org/q/projects:openstack/governance+is:open15:36
dpawlikfungi: allright. Some part for the log scraping script has been done. It is already configured for RDO so hope it will fit of all of the expectations15:36
gmanntwo reviews need more vote #link https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/governance/+/810721  15:38
gmann#link https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/governance/+/81311215:38
gmanndpawlik: +1, thanks again15:38
gmannplease review the stable team part which I am hoping we can merge before/during PTG week15:39
gmannone last thing from me15:39
gmannwe will cancel the next week TC meeting as we are anyways meeting in PTG15:39
yoctozeptosensible15:39
yoctozepto:D15:39
gmannI will arrange the PTG topic tomorrow and schedule(what topic to discuss what time ) part we can discuss on our first 30 min on Thursday 15:40
gmannand do not forget to join TC + community leaders sessions on Monday15:41
gmannMonday, Oct 18 15 UTC  - 17 UTC  (TC+ Community Leaders Interaction)15:41
gmannthat's all from me today, anything else to disucss?15:41
fungii'm saddened i'll have to miss half of it because of overlap with the security sig session15:41
fungibut there's only so many hours in the week15:41
gmannfungi: oh, no worry, please join in 2nd half of it.15:42
* yoctozepto knows the drill15:42
gmannit is 2 hrs sessions15:42
yoctozeptoI have an overlap with kolla but I'm trying to get agenda to suit me ;d15:42
gmannyoctozepto: ah, same time seems. 15:43
yoctozeptoyeah, it's kolla's traditional timeslot15:43
yoctozeptoalong with the two others15:43
yoctozeptothankfully not too many overlaps15:43
gmannyeah, hard to avoid it 100%15:44
gmannok, if nothing else, let's end the today meeting. ~15 min early15:44
yoctozeptothanks gmann15:44
