yoctozeptozaneb, spotz: per my knowledge and https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/predate - the proper spelling for both meanings is the same; one could obviously use 'antedate' but that could trigger google searches :-)06:36

fungimy dictionary indicates that "predate" has an additional definition which "pre-date" does not: "prey on or hunt for"11:32
fungibut yes they can both be used to indicate setting a date in advance11:33
toskyfungi: out of curiosity, isn't the predate form of pre-date a shortened version of the latter, which just ended up giving a new meaning to the existing term? Or have they have been co-existing?11:35
njohnstontosky fungi: the "predate" that is the verb form of predator is a homograph: it is spelled the same as "predate" to come before but sounds and means differently.  Like predator, the first version has a short 'e' (like "bread") while the second, temporal sense has a long 'e' (like "creed").11:42

fungijust a heads up on the electoral rolls, i notice there are no extra-atcs this time around13:48
fungithe only extra-atc in the reference/projects.yaml file has an expiration of last year13:48
fungiat first i thought it might be a bug, but on closer inspection we really don't have any now that i18n became a sig and there's no extra-atcs recorded in their sigs record (though https://review.opendev.org/721604 would allow us to include some if they did)13:50
smcginnisI thought I had cleaned out all of the expired extra-atcs. Must have missed that one.13:54
mnaserfungi: wasn't there a script usually ran by the i18n team to update those extra atcs13:54
mnaserat least i thought it was a script because it seemed like an extensive list of people usually13:55
fungiyes, i believe there was, but since the move to a sig they haven't run it as far as i know, and also the tc would have to authorize sigs to add extra-atcs (though they could do that trivially by voting on a change which adds them to the reference/sigs-repos.yaml in the governance repo)13:57
fungithe pending change to the election tooling is there in the case that the tc decides sigs can have extra-atcs13:58
spotzI would think that the SiG members should be extra ATCs at the least if they're contributing14:07
fungiyeah, but to do that we need a clear definition of "sig members"14:11
smcginnisIIRC, part of the issue with the I18N team, which caused the need for so many extra-atcs in the past, was that translation work doesn't happen in gerrit so we can't easily extract who is "active" and who is not.14:12
fungicorrect14:12
fungithey were tracked as extra-atcs in part so that the team would have a declared electorate in case there was a runoff election for ptl14:13
fungithe translation system doesn't have an anonymous api for extracting translator information, so election officials are unable to query it without accounts and special permission14:14
spotzSo maybe like I did for AUCs, have the SiGs provide a list?14:16
smcginnisspotz: That is basically what the extra-atcs mechanism is.14:18
spotzahh14:18
fungiyes, we've come full circle. if they provide the list as extra-atcs in the reference/sigs-repos.yaml file in the governance repo then our election tooling will add them (assuming we merge the proposed change which enables that)14:18
fungithat also satisfies the tc charter requirement that additions to the electorate are approved by the tc, since that repository already handles tc rollcall voting workflow14:23

ttxgmann: did you get any answer yet for Qinling?15:32
ttxbeyond Qinling, of the teams without candidates, seems like Karbor and Searchlight will be removed. We need to find candidates for DPL liaison roles for Oslo and Placement15:33
ttxSo I'd focus our volunteer-search efforts on those two for the rest of the week15:34
gmannttx: not yet, seems lxkong is not online. I can try to ask him in email if he has any plan otherwise we can go with option 515:42

zanebquestion: is openlab still a thing?18:01
zanebSSL cert has expired, no tweets for a year, key people like mrhillsman and hodgepodge have moved on18:03
fungiit's been dead for well over a year, yes18:05
fungiand people have been confusing it with openinfralabs.org too18:06
zanebthere still seems to be stuff running though18:07
zaneblike gophercloud CI by the looks of it18:08
fungiyeah, it may be on autopilot18:08

lxkongttx, gmann, thanks for reminder for Qinling candidacy, I'm afraid I can't go ahead with it because we failed to attract contributors from the community and there are more and more options out there in k8s. I talked with a few people, we think providing FaaS using operators on top of k8s (which may run on top of OpenStack) sounds a better approach20:16
lxkongzaneb: currently, some engineers from Huawei are still maintaining openlab. It provides CI resources for projects like cloud-provider-openstack, gophercloud and terraform-provider-openstack, etc.20:18
fungilxkong: i suppose they're aware the openlab website has been down for at least a year20:19
lxkongfungi: they should, maybe just no interested in maintaining the website20:19
fungiwhen people have asked me how to get involved in openlab i've been telling them it no longer exists, because the website's ssl cert had expired over a year ago... looks like since then (sometime in may) they replaced it with a letsencrypt cert, but that too has expired nearly two months ago20:23
zanebdocs site is actually working (and the main landing page is actually up, just has an old cert)20:24
lxkongI am not sure what information the website provides, but based on my communication with the openlab maintainers, it's just a CI thing now.20:24
lxkongi still remember I can apply resources for experiments from the websites years ago20:25
fungiyeah that's interesting, docs.openlabtesting.org has been renewing its letsencrypt cert, but the main openlabtesting.org site has not20:25
fungilooks like they're being served from different hosting platforms20:26
fungithe main site looks to be a server instance in city network, while the docs site is at gitbook.com20:27
fungigitbook probably has its own cert automation20:27
gmannlxkong: thanks for reply on Qinling, I will update the etherpad accordingly.20:41
