shanu__I am developing an application which uses openstack swift in backend and supports S3 APIs as well. In an S3 versioned bucket when a upload same file more than once, versions are created. These versions can be listed using `aws s3api list-object-versions` via aws cli. Now when I delete the latest version using version_id the latest version is getting deleted properly but previous version does not become the 09:56
shanu__latest. Command used to delete `aws s3api delete-object --bucket --key  --version-id`. Verified this with `IsLatest: false` metadata when I make `aws s3api list-object-versions` call.09:56
shanu__Same flow when tested on AWS S3 it makes the previous version latest. Similar observations for MPU also.09:56
shanu__I am not able to make out whether it is a bug or I am missing something. Thanks09:56
*** shanu__ is now known as shanu_09:58
zaitcevHe quit.15:45
opendevreviewLuciano Lo Giudice proposed openstack/swift master: Fix the sysctl parameter used to tune connections  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/swift/+/80164318:02
timburkeshanu_: sounds like a bug, possibly due to eventual-consistency issues? we've got a test that covers that scenario (https://github.com/openstack/swift/blob/2.27.0/test/s3api/test_versioning.py#L284-L315) that's passing in my dev env. might need more info (like what happens when you try to do an unversioned GET in that state)18:12
timburke(in case shanu_ comes back)18:12
opendevreviewTim Burke proposed openstack/swift master: container-reconciler: support multiple processes  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/swift/+/80085018:46

timburke#link https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/swift/+/79912121:03
timburkei think all the major things we wanted to land before cutting a release are in; namely, dropping a couple config/cli options that were added since 2.27.0 and are no longer necessary21:04
zaitcevI expected the absolute agreement land too.21:05
acolesyep21:05
timburke#link https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/swift/+/792713will take a look21:05

timburkeonly other topic i've got is the PTG21:07
zaitcevAnd then I was going to rebase your fix to watcher versus sharding, which is a little more involved.21:07
timburkeah, yeah -- that'd be good, too21:07
timburke#link https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/swift/+/78765621:08
zaitcevYeah, Alistair only had one comment with -1 but it was an actual problem. But once I fixed that up, I noticed that the code looked old otherwise.21:09
zaitcevSo, anyway. What about the PTG? It's just a PTG, isn't it?21:09
acolesIIRC there were no new tests21:09
timburke#topic PTG21:10
zaitcevHmm. We ought to create some shards...21:10

zaitcevtimburke: if you want to rebase patch 787656 and write tests, be my guest. We probably won't duplicate, but I'll poke you once I'm ready. The management is making me work on S-RBAC, that is to say Project Reader urgently.21:17
timburke👍21:17
