timssHi, is ssync deemed stable, or even recommended over rsync? Looking at the changelog/bug reports it seems to have been worked on for a long time, but https://docs.openstack.org/swift/latest/overview_replication.html still describes it as new, while the last change is 2016 so thought I'd ask here :)14:59

DHEI'm sticking to rsync because based on my own testing ssync is basically just pushing objects by a series of HTTP PUT commands. rsync has much more throughput, which is a big deal for me because latency tends to be high-ish (~5 milliseconds, multiple cities involved) and my objects are on the small side15:04

timssDHE: cheers, thanks for the input17:06

DHEI'm disappointed - I would have preferred ssync, but I just need the throughput more.17:08

notkevin_I am sorry if this questions has been asked a million times already, but does anyone know if the 12/8/2020 CentOS 8 announcement is going effect the OpenStack Swift releases at http://mirror.centos.org/centos/8/cloud/x86_64/ ? We want to upgrade to Ussuri in the first quarter of 2021, but we are unsure if there will be regular OpenStack Swift package releases for CentOS 8 like there were for CentOS 7 (I think we upgraded to Ce21:22
notkevin_ntOS 7 around the Juno or Kilo release and it was supported until the Train release)21:22
zaitcevUnfortunately, I don't know who is responsible for the releases of the CentOS Cloud thing. I only use RDO.21:23
notkevin_I realize this may only be able to be answered by Red Hat since I believe they manage that repo. Just wondering if anyone had any additional information.21:23
zaitcevTry to identify that person by looking at some git logs.21:23
zaitcevOr ask on their mailing list.21:24
notkevin_Do you know if there is a project focused around deploying OpenStack Swift using containers? We temporarily solve the CentOS 8 support issue by migrating our Ceph storage to a container based deployment.21:27
openstackgerritTim Burke proposed openstack/swift master: Clean up some replication error messages  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/swift/+/76866821:31
openstackgerritClay Gerrard proposed openstack/swift master: wip: failing shard loop test  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/swift/+/76942121:34
notkevin_According to https://github.com/rdo-infra/rdo-release and https://repos.fedorapeople.org/repos/openstack/00README.txt it sounds like the RDO releases are hosted by the CentOS Cloud SIG repositories, does that mean http://mirror.centos.org/centos/8/cloud/x86_64/ is the RDO rpms?22:02
