thurloatcrummy news. devs were part of rackspace?16:03
thurloator so my 10 seconds of git log / github profile matching has led me to believe.16:04
zaitcevI didn't like the direction where creiht and the crew went after the fork, anyway.16:08
zaitcevInstead of re-implementing Swift, they decided to re-architect it on the fly and it's never a good sign.16:09

prashkrezaitcev: Hi! Could you please review https://review.openstack.org/#/c/598130/18:03
patchbotpatch 598130 - swift (stable/queens) - Attempt to fix pep8 - 1h 25m 34s spent in CI18:03
zaitcevprashkre: not sure I'm even allowed to do it on stable branches, but sure...18:04
prashkrezaitcev: It is backport change cherry-picked from master branch. It is needed in stable/queens as well where pep8 is failing due to changes in bandit.18:05
notmynamezaitcev: you can't approve stuff, but it's *much* nicer for me when there's already a core +1 on backport patches18:06
zaitcevWell, it looks like an honest backport and a low risk.18:06
notmynamecool18:06
prashkrezaitcev: are these https://review.openstack.org/#/admin/groups/530,members stable core members who can review it?18:13
tdasilvaprashkre: no, it's just notmyname i believe18:15
tdasilvafor swift project18:15
tdasilvai just put a +1 on it too, it should be good to go, the other option was to pin bandit to <1.5.0 on stable branches, i think some other projects did that18:16
*** gkadam has quit IRC18:17
notmynameapproved based on zaitcev and tdasilva +1s :-)18:17
prashkretdasilva: Thank you!18:17
prashkrenotmyname: Thanks for the approval.18:18
*** mikecmpbll has joined #openstack-swift19:03
zaitcevI didn't think the B109 was applicable to us, so I voted against pinning old bandit.19:16

notmynameFYI I'll be landing the swift and swiftclient zuul job settings changes for the stable branches. yes, they technically violate normal "good backport" rules (they only change tests and aren't exactly cherry-picks from master). but the point is we can either do this or just wait (approximately forever) until all the supported stable branches have the definitions currently on master. so "we" (ie openstac23:24
notmynamek tc and infra) have decided to do it this way23:24
mattoliveraumorning23:27
mattoliverauI think zuul jobs changes probably need to be treated different then normal stable backports anyway, as they actually effect a CI system outside of the repo that maybe continue to change an evolve.23:31
notmynameyeah. and having them in our repo will be fantastic23:36

notmynamemattoliverau: kota_: FWIW, next monday is a US federal holiday, so I doubt too many people will be online (personally, I'll be traveling)23:38
mattoliveraugeesh, so many holidays :P So Monday and Tuesday for us will be reletively quiet in channel then. kota_ and I will just go approve all the things23:40
mattoliveraualso FYI, we're (Bec and myself) in the birth due zone (2 weeks either side of due date) so if a suddently disappear it'll be because I've had to go have a baby.23:44
mattoliverau*I23:44
mattoliveraunotmyname: nice write up on sharding and I like the containers to shard screen SwiftStack have created, nice! One of these days we should put our thinking caps back on and finish automated sharding so in the future we can make it just work.23:50
notmynamethanks. and yup23:50
notmynameclayg and timburke were the ones behind that UI23:51
