gadbhow can i use "swift-get-nodes" ??08:49
_bluevgadb:  the first argument must be the ring file (e.g object.ring.gz). The next three arguements depend on which type of ring file you are using. e.g one arguemnt - the account for the account ring, or with the object ring you must specify three arguments, the account, the container and the object08:51

portantepeluse: what are you seeing for the failure?21:04
portantenotmyname: still around?21:04
notmynameportante: my IRC client is open ;-)21:04
portanteshould I try to use your gist from April 12th? Or just follow the latest comment21:05
portante?21:05
notmynameportante: the gist was a hacky example of using common .conf loading code for constraints. I still think that's a good idea, since clayg has convinced me that we should prefer test.conf constraints21:06
notmynameportante: but it may not be the exact same diff21:07
peluseportante:  assertion on the last line of that function.  I'm on feature/ec though, will check against master but its been driving me nuts for a few days21:07
notmynameportante: reason I'm convince about test.conf is that you can verify your tests themselves. eg cluster advertises 5GB limit, you set 2GB and the test fails (expected). but if the test passes, either the test is wrong or the cluster is lying. being able to actually set the constraints tested helps when diagnosing those issues21:08
portantenotmyname: I am still not convinced of that methodology, mostly because it requires such a deep understanding of the tests, and one can easily see a failure of the test and it could be caused by something else21:09
portanteI am going to do as you two ask, though, as this needs to get in21:09
notmynameI expect that the normal case is that we will rarely use test.conf. ie the common case will be to use /info.21:10
portantewouldn't it be better to work towards the tests properly verifying the constraint behavior rather than relying on a developer to make a proper change to test.conf, assume they spelled it right and got it right, and then checked that the code is failing for the right reason?21:10
portanteAgreed, so then a newbie comes along, wanting to use swift, reads test.conf, doesn't get it right and is all confused21:11
portanteso that is why I don't agree with this path, but will follow it, as it is better than what we have today.21:12
portantepeluse: so is it a timestamp mismatch?21:13
portantewhen it happens?21:13
portanteI am guessing that there is another call somewhere that ends up changing the timestamp on an account or container21:14
peluseI actually don't see any mismatches in the assertion message yet but ist a long one... still comparing.  will report back in a few21:15

claygdfg: notmyname: https://review.openstack.org/#/c/77091/ might still be a good idea too....22:56
peluseportante:  the reason I chose not to order the client implementation is because I figured if there were an ordering requirement there someone would have implemented it that way to begin with.  Plus, I asked torgomatic about ordering of info output on acct HEAD stuff once (not this issues) and I got the impression is wasn't expexted/important22:57
peluse..and tell me if I had done that someone wouldn't have said "look you could have just had the test compare ordered output and not mess with the functinoal code"  :)22:59
