ttxgmann: yes the release process had long had a "membershipFreeze" at milestone-2 that is when we theoretically freeze the list of components in a release. The idea being we can do one beta around that time to check release jobs are working.08:53
ttxIt was originally designed to avoid last-minute additions and have a clear cut date for those. It's not really designed to decide for removals... but that would still be a good thing to decide early :)08:55
elodillesack, thanks for the details & for the patch! ( https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/governance/+/867062 )09:02

elodillesfrickler: ack, added it to my TODO12:03
mnasiadkaelodilles: thanks!12:25

elodillesmail was sent14:02
elodilleshttps://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-discuss/2022-December/031388.html14:02
elodillesand it started a discussion and now it seems Mistral will have maintainers! \o/14:02
elodillesi guess we can keep mistral in Antelope's deliverables14:03
hberaudWFM14:03
elodillesbut maybe we can postpone this discussion to another point in the agande14:04
elodilles#info 2nd task: follow and check the Zed trailing projects patches (https://review.opendev.org/q/topic:zed-trailing-branch-cut) (all)14:04
elodillesas I see kolla deliverables branched today14:05
elodilleskayobe, osa and cinderlib remained14:05

elodillesPrepare Zed cycle trailing, deadline is next week14:06

elodilles'Propose patches to release trailing deliverables (elod)'14:06
elodillesall patches were proposed in R-18 week's task14:06
elodillesso yes, I think we covered this14:07
elodillesI also pinged the PTLs/release liaisons via the patch14:07
elodillesanything to add here?14:08
elodillesseems not, so we are done with this topic14:09
elodilles#topic Assign next week tasks14:09
elodillesas I see we have a single task: Review any remaining trailing project exceptions14:09
elodillesI guess we can add 'all' to this14:09
elodilles(I've added 'all' :))14:11
hberaudagree14:11
elodilles#topic Review countdown email14:11
elodilles#link https://etherpad.opendev.org/p/relmgmt-weekly-emails14:11
elodillesplease review ^^^14:11
elodillesthe only tricky part i think is the 'will be proposed to switch to the cycle-with-rc model'. I've added a note for that.14:12
hberaudLGTM14:12
opendevreviewTobias Urdin proposed openstack/releases master: [xena] Release Magnum 13.0.1  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/releases/+/86711114:12
elodilleshberaud: thx14:13
ttxLGTM, added final release date as it's always good to talk about it14:14
elodillesttx: ++14:14
elodilles#topic 2023.1 component changes - Adjutant out? - Mistral in?14:14
elodillesso we have volunteers for Mistral14:15
elodillesand as I saw there were discussions in TC meeting about Adjutant14:15
elodilles+ gmann proposed a patch for clarification about the timing of such (inactive) projects: https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/governance/+/86706214:16
ttxRe: Adjutant I would keep them if they reply to their releaase reviews around antelope-214:17
ttxthat makes a good check14:17
ttxsame for mistral really14:17
elodillessounds good to me too14:17
ttxthey might need our help to untangle any stuck job though14:18
ttxso probably something we should start looking into soon14:18
elodillesmaybe the general 'release mail introduction' email can be sent to the new maintainers / PTLs14:18
elodillesttx: ack14:18
hberaudgood idea14:19
ttx++14:19
elodillesso Antelope-2 is Jan 5th14:20
ttxyeah, maybe something we should look into next week14:20
elodillesttx: ++14:20
ttxlike just looking if the jobs seem to be working14:20
ttxand if not what's the error messages etc14:20
elodillesyepp14:21
elodilles(especially as I'll be mostly off for last two weeks of december)14:21
hberaudsame thing for me14:22
ttxsame14:22
elodillesoh, nice :)14:23
elodillesthen it'll be a quiet period :)14:23
elodillesshould we add a task for next week about the 'check state of Adjutant/Mistral' as a reminder?14:24
hberaudcan't hurt14:25
elodillesI've added all to this one as well14:27
elodillesi mean: i've added the task to R-14 and marked as task for 'all'14:28
hberaudack14:28
elodillesanything else to mention here?14:28
hberaudnope14:28
ttxno14:29
elodilles#topic Open Discussion14:29
elodillesmaybe one patch to mention here:14:29
elodilleshttps://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/releases/+/86696114:30
elodillesin the past we had a discussion with Kolla team about their monthly releases,14:30
elodillesand we agreed that they always bump MINOR versions, even though it doesn't follow then semver14:31
hberaudok 14:31
hberaudsorry I don't remember that point14:31
hberaudapproved14:32
fungiseems like the release jobs haven't been significantly impacted by the various tox v4 backward incompatibilities and behavior changes, but probably worth keeping tabs on the discussion in the ml14:32
elodilleshberaud: thx. yepp, exceptions are hard to remember. maybe we could document somehow these things14:32
hberaudyeah14:33
ttxsemver is weird for the deployment things anyway14:33
elodillesfungi: ack14:33
fungiin particular, the zuul maintainers are preparing to remove the temporary tox<4 cap in the ensure-tox role on december 21, so might want to be careful with any initial release approvals after that date and we can implement more direct tox version overrides where necessary14:33
elodillesfungi: have you seen any release job (meaning you mentioned 'significant' :))14:34
elodilles* failure14:34
fungii have not, so was trying to say that if there were issues they either didn't get exposed for the brief period of time between the v4 release and the addition of the cap in ensure-tox, or they weren't severe enough to come to my attention at least14:34
elodillesttx: yepp, exactly14:35
elodillesfungi: ah, i see.14:35
fungibut also trying to be mindful of the fact that some release tasks rely on running things with tox using the individual projects' tox configs i think, so this could still result in inconsistent problems depending on those configs14:36
elodillesfungi: maybe we can try to do a test release with 'release-test' repo somewhere after Dec 2114:36
fungithat's a good idea, at a minimum14:36
elodillesalso, some test on local env with tox 4 could be good14:38
fungiyes14:39
opendevreviewRiccardo Pittau proposed openstack/releases master: Release sushy 4.4.1 for antelope  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/releases/+/86711514:40
