sdakebut it seems to not to pass the gate - mind providing a review of it so I can fix whats busted18:03
dhellmannsdake : reno is driven through sphinx from master, and will scan the branches for which you have pages in releasenotes/source18:04
dhellmannsdake : at this point you don't have to add reno to any stable branches other than mitaka18:05
sdakedhellmann ya i have a reno patch set here: https://review.openstack.org/#/c/296125/18:05
patchbotsdake: patch 296125 - kolla - Add reno support18:05
sdakedhellmann but i want release notes for mitaka18:05
sdakedo i just add the releasesnotes directory to mitaka?18:06
*** sigmavirus24_awa is now known as sigmavirus2418:06
dhellmannsdake : for the project-config change, you'll probably need to update some settings in the jenkins dir to define the jobs, too. Take a look at another project as an example18:06
sdakedhellmann will do thanks18:06
dhellmannsdake : if you want release notes for mitaka, then you need to set up reno to run in mitaka (with the sphinx files and the right jobs) so that when you add a release note to the mitaka branch you don't end up breaking the build on master if the note is bad18:07
sdakedhellmann if you could dtkae 5 minutes from your busy schedule (I see you jsut changed gigs, grats on rht!) to review that reno change i'd super appreciate it18:07
dhellmannsdake : I'll put it in my queue. You may want to look at some other patches with the add-reno topic to compare against what you're done (substitute liberty with mitaka, for example, since most of those patches are older)18:08
sdakedhellmann just to be clear, that means backporting reno implementation into mitaka and liberty?18:08
sdakedhellmann queue is good thanks :)18:08
dhellmannsdake : you only need to backport to mitaka, unless you also want to add notes for liberty18:08
sdakei'll add you as a reviewer18:08
*** vgridnev has quit IRC18:08
sdakei do want to add notes to liberty18:08
sdakeso backporting the pbr change and the releasenotes change is required  for both18:09
dhellmannoh, ok, then yes, you need to do all of the work in all of the branches where you want notes18:09
sdakedhellmann lat quetsion, can one release note have a bunch of features in it18:09
sdakejso i dont have to write 40 reno files18:09
dhellmannyou can do that, but what you generally want to do is add a file in the same patch as the code change18:10
dhellmannthat way the note is backported with the bug fix18:10
sdakedhellmann if i do that ,wont "curent development" hsow all the notes for mitaka and liberty?18:12
dhellmannsdake : current development will always show the history of the "current" branch, yes. that's by design, to give you a place to test the rst to make sure it builds correctly18:12
*** kzaitsev_mb has joined #openstack-release18:13
dhellmannyou can limit how far back in history that goes using the 'earliest-version' option: http://docs.openstack.org/developer/reno/sphinxext.html18:13

dhellmannthough be careful to not set that to late18:13
dhellmannI'm not sure what that would buy you?18:13
