dhellmannstevemar_ , bknudson_ : great question! that's why we have the unreleased page without the branch constraint. Because the liberty page scans origin/stable/liberty and your submitted patch isn't actually on that branch yet, it won't appear there. The unreleased page scans the "current" branch, which does include the patch under review.14:30
stevemar_dhellmann: ah, so once the patch is part of origin/stable/liberty, it'll be all good14:31

jrollper the "dropping 2.6" conversation, should we be releasing a major bump of clients to signify this? (and also dropping the jobs)16:18

AJaegerdhellmann: and how do I differentiate between what's in 0.32 and what was added afterwards?16:36

notmynamedhellmann: what happened with https://www.openstack.org/software/releases/liberty/components/swift? swift used to have a lot of SDKs listed. do you know why that would have dropped to zero?19:37
notmynamemaybe " Only SDKs updated within the release cycle are counted toward this tag." ?19:39
notmynamethat seems odd19:40
dhellmannnotmyname : that's a foundation thing, I'm not sure how they build that page19:40
ttxnotmyname: i can relay complaints about that site19:41
notmynamettx: I've got a few, but the SDK one is probably the only battle I'd choose to fight right now ;-)19:41
ttxnotmyname: about the assert:follows-standard-deprecation, I think we specifically mention that we will adapt it for libraries19:41
ttxnotmyname: send me an email and i'll broadcast it internally19:42
notmynamettx: oh ok. your email was specifically talking about services, so I kept it at that19:42
notmynamettx: ok. I'll work on an email19:42
ttxnotmyname: some of the rules do not really make sense. I know lifeless wanted to add specific details for libs19:42
ttxso yeah, one step at a time. the most urgent are the services, since that's what's exposed in the project navigator and their current definition for maturity is pretty poor19:43
notmynameyeah. "count of SDKs witha  release during our cycle time" seems weird. and I'm not a fan of count of survey respondents as a metric of maturity19:45
notmynameI'll start with the SDK count one19:45
lifelessttx: yah, I was hoping to draft that all up yesterday19:47
lifelessttx: but I ended up ratholing on a parsley bug preventing my mutual-left-recursive grammar from working :/19:48
ttxnotmyname: also not a big fan of counting "adoption" as part of maturity :)19:48
ttxlifeless: no urgency19:48
ttxespecially when adoption is measured in % of openstack deployments19:48
notmynameright19:49
notmynamethe survey had abotu 140 swift clusters on it. meanwhile we (swiftstack) had about 1000 clusters (actually 2800 different rings) we did tests with and presented on during a design session19:49
notmynamemakes "only 68% of openstack users actually have swift" kinda frustrating ;-)19:50
notmynamehmm..if I can get all of those clusters represented int eh survey, then maybe I can make the percentage of nova deployments drop below the maturity threshold ;-)19:51
ttxsounds like a worthwhile goal19:52
notmynamelol19:52
ttxdestroy all crazy metrics!19:52
notmynameprobably would elicit some very fast policy changes19:52
notmynameI guess I'll save the rant on "look how many lines of code is in openstack!" for later19:52
ttxthe project navigator is better than what we had, but stil lneeds a lot of iteration to be more useful and accurate. So all feedback is welcome19:53
notmynameyup. I do like the idea19:53
ttxand since it's a bit of a black box currently, I'm happy to relay complaints and remarks19:53

Jokke_ttx: will you be around tomorrow or would you have energy for quick question21:13
ttxJokke_: try me21:13
Jokke_I've been herding the Freezer kittens, they're under independent release model and setting up stable branches21:14
ttxhah! yeah, we need to start chasing down the edge cases there21:15
Jokke_should freezer-stable-maint team follow the same rules as the managed release model21:15
ttxthey should probably be cycle-with-intermediary21:15
ttxif they do stable branches21:16
Jokke_as in group owned by stable-maint-core and members approved by the tight vetting of "Have you really read and understood the policy and willing to follow it?"21:16
ttxmanaged or not managed is a separate flag21:16
ttxoh, you mean, stable-maint21:16
Jokke_yeah that firs, we can figure out their real modes later21:16
ttxyeah, that's one of the things I'd expect the new stable team to discuss21:16
ttxJokke_: my take on it is that we should create a tag to replace "has-stable-branches"21:17
Jokke_I just intercepted the ptl adding all their cores to the stable-maint before I've clarified if same rules applies to them21:17
ttxone that the stable team would grant to team following the policy21:17
ttxteams21:17
ttxso you would basically go in and check that they do the thigs right, and ten apply the tag21:17
ttxthen*21:17
Jokke_ttx: I'd like to see 2 tags replacing that and bit of approach difference21:17
Jokke_has-release-branch and maintains-stable-branch ;)21:18
ttxwell, has-release-vranch is useless, it's contained in cycle-with*21:18
ttxif you use release:cycle* then you have a release branch21:18
ttxif you don't then you shouldn't have one21:18
ttxthe only remaining unknown is if that stable branch follows policy or is just weird21:19
Jokke_ah that way, yeah, true21:19
ttxcurrently it's a bit of a mess but I'll chase down the weird cases21:19
Jokke_yep ... as said I've been trying to teach guys to be house clean ;)21:19
ttxso for the Freezer guys they should pick a release:cycle-with* model21:20
ttxinstead of independent21:20
ttxsince they follow the cycle :)21:20
Jokke_ok, I'll have a chat about that21:20
ttxthen yes, they can set up their stable branch in a way tha tfollows the stable policy21:20
ttxwith the stable-maint-core controlling it etc21:21
