aashahvkmc: I was finally able to run devstack on a digital ocean droplet using some free credits. My system crashed multiple times because of low RAM. Have initiated the process of getting a new system as well, something I had been putting off for a long time.10:07

oikikipgadige__: im currently an intern so lmk if you have any questions17:02
pgadige__oikiki: wonderful! congratulations! I'm familiar with Python and Go. I'm interested to make my first contribution to open of the Openstack projects.17:09
pgadige__How should I go about in choosing a project that is nearly a right fit? Magnum is exciting as it's going to have PrometheusIO and Graphana related projects too17:11
slunkadpgadige__: well it really depends on what your interest is. If you are interested in magnum then you can start with deploying it and then playing around with it to get familiar17:12
oikikipgadige__ : I went through the open projects and found one that interested me.  the new projects for the next rounds haven't been annouced yet.17:12
oikikipgadige__ but i would start with getting devstack set up and all of your accounts set up first17:13
oikikipgadige: that way when the next rounds projects are announced, you'll be all set up and ready to get working (since gettin setup can take some time depending on your computer17:15
oikikisorry i mean pgadige__ (see above)17:15
pgadige__oikiki: I've already set up the mandatory accounts. Right now, I'm trying to set up devstack. and also, watching a few videos on Magnum to know the gist of it.17:17
pgadige__slunkad: there are so many interesting projects that I'm confused what to eliminate from my candidate projects list17:19
oikikipgadige__ sounds like you are on the right track. id finish with that and keep an eye out for when the new openstack projects for the next round are announced.  and take a look at each to see what interests you.17:19
oikikithey will have a page with the projects so you can look at the projects generally like Keystone, Magum and then look at what the mentor is proposing you work on to figure out if it suits you.17:20
pgadige__oikiki: sounds good! Thank you very much! I really appreciate you for taking out time to answer my queries and guide me :)17:21
pgadige__oikiki: I just came across your blog post! Keep writing! I love it!17:23
oikikipgadige__ : no problem thank you! :)17:23
oikikipgadige__ : when i was looking I checked here: https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Outreachy#Projects and also here: https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Internship_ideas17:25
oikikipgadige__ : good luck!!17:28
strigazipgadige__: As I mentioned in the magnum channel, the k8s_coreos driver needs some love. eg it doens't have a monitoring stack as k8s_fedora and swarm_mode fedora that oikiki is working on17:34
strigazipgadige__: also, there is somework on adding ingress controllers on the k8s_fedora driver what we would like to have for coreos as well.17:35
strigazipgadige__: as oikiki proposed, deploying devstack and start using kubernetes, swarm etc is a good start17:36
strigazipgadige__: I would start by following this guide: https://docs.openstack.org/magnum/latest/contributor/quickstart.html17:37
strigazipgadige__: and then this https://docs.openstack.org/magnum/latest/install/launch-instance.html#provision-a-kubernetes-cluster-and-create-a-deployment17:37
vkmcaashah, sorry, just read your message, could you give me more context on what is the status of your development environment?17:42
pgadige__oikiki: thank you for the links to the projects/ideas17:42
*** oikiki has quit IRC17:44
pgadige__strigazi: I've just bookmarked the quickstart & launch-instance links. Thank you for sharing it. I shall, eventually, look into k8s_coreos after successfully deploying devstack & running a toy instance.17:45
strigazipgadige__: start with a k8s_fedora cluster17:47
strigazipgadige__: note: you will need at least 10GB ram 8 cpu and 100GB of disk17:47
strigazipgadige__: I would deploy in an spare computer or an isolated linux installation17:48
strigazipgadige__: when I stared for the very first time, I added a new disk on my desktop and installed ubuntu or centos there to not mess with my personal setup17:49
pgadige__strigazi: I was exactly thinking of adding a new disk after reading the requirements. oh my I have to borrow my sibling's desktop :)17:52
pgadige__I think I'll keep coming back to this channel with queries while setting up, and having everything run for the first time.17:53
