os-devan777 can someone tell me if fresh installation of a keystone dev environment on a vm based on this doc works? https://docs.openstack.org/keystone/latest/contributor/set-up-keystone.html10:26
os-devan777Or any suggestions on how to setup a python development environment?10:28

os-devan777vishakha : I was able to set up tox and clone keystone in the virtual env. and ¨import keystone¨works, however running keystone-manage bootstrap returned /etc/keystone/fernet-keys/ does not exist?11:06
os-devan777How exactly should fernet-keys be set up? Or any guide to figure out any mistake I am doing11:07
vishakhaos-devan777: Could you try keystone-manage fernet_setup first?11:18
vishakhaos-devan777: We are updating our contributor docs too, since many changes are made to keystone and openstack too.11:19
*** tkajinam has joined #openstack-keystone11:56
os-devan777vishakha : Yes I tried keystone-manage fernet_setup ,but  can you tell me what should be the user group and user for configuring it.11:56
os-devan777Because that particular doc doesnt talk about any of that? But I do remember doing that when setting up a multi node Openstack network previously?11:58
*** dancn has joined #openstack-keystone11:59
vishakhaos-devan777: The  keystone-manage fernet_setup  will setup the  /etc/keystone/fernet-keys/ and then you can run keystone -manage bootstrap. The same user running the bootstarp command should be able to run fernet-setup , if this is what you asked12:04

os-devan777vishakha : Can you tell me if I run bootstrap and fernet setup inside a py virtual environment ? It shows permission denied, I tried accessing with sudo access as well12:30
vishakhaos-devan777: virtualenv is used by tox commands. Run the bootstrap and fernet -setup outside virttualenv12:44

vishakhacmurphy knikolla gagehugo Just wanted to confirm that updating an ec2 credential is a valid case? If that so then the bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/keystone/+bug/1872753 seems to be valid. And I will update the status to confirmed.16:24
openstackLaunchpad bug 1872753 in OpenStack Identity (keystone) "Updating EC2 credential blob can lead to a ec2 credential id / credential id mismatch" [Undecided,Incomplete]16:24

cmurphyvishakha: i'm not sure what your question is. if what they are reporting is reproducible, then the bug is valid, because for it to be possible to "orphan" the credential is not desireable behavior17:40
openstackgerritVishakha Agarwal proposed openstack/keystone master: New config option 'user_limit' in credentials  https://review.opendev.org/72078917:45
vishakhacmurphy: I saw in the ec2 credential API  there is no patch HTTP method https://github.com/openstack/keystone/blob/master/keystone/api/users.py#L330. I know that we can update ec2 by using credentials HTTP methods too . But I wanted to be sure that updating ec2 credentials is valid behaviour.17:47
cmurphyvishakha: it is in the code https://github.com/openstack/keystone/blob/master/keystone/api/credentials.py#L155 and the api documentation https://docs.openstack.org/api-ref/identity/v3/#update-credential and it's a command in osc which you used to reproduce the bug. so yes updating the credential is valid.17:52
vishakhacmurphy: Thanks for the confirmation17:54
