Nisha1do i need to do explicit setting in inspector.conf for it?09:30
mgould[machines not physically connected, machines not in same L2 broadcast domain, firewall, dhcp server not running, dhcp client not running] seem like the obvious things to check, in that order09:31

dtantsurNisha1, the problem is usually your network configuration. e.g. some switches do not allow DHCP/boot requests by default09:49
*** ohamada has quit IRC09:51
Nisha1dtantsur, yesterday we used the same setup for ironic deploy using ironic-client. so i had neutron port etc everything created for it. the dhcp range given for neutron subnet and inspector-dhcp is same. Today when i used the same setup for inspection it was able to get DHCP requests09:52
Nisha1and inspector kernel and ramdisk did booted up, IPA said that inspection is disabled hence skipping09:53
*** snecklifter has joined #openstack-ironic09:54
Nisha1but as u advised no neutron things are required i removed neutron port, subnet and tried ironic inspection09:54
Nisha1dtantsur, after this it again started failing for dhcp09:54
dtantsurcorrect, because neutron probably didn't pass required parameters09:54
dtantsurNisha1, start with checking logs of ironic-inspector dhcp server (depends on how you installed it)09:55
Nisha1its brought up devstack plugin09:55
dtantsurso wait, are you using devstack and vms?09:56
Nisha1dtantsur, i just chnaged the default ip address range from 172.x.x.x to 10.y.y.y as 172.x.x.x is not reachable from our servers09:56
Nisha1dtantsur, i am using devstack09:56
Nisha1dtantsur, my devstack is up on a VM, trying inspection for a baremetal using "ironic node-set-provision-state $NODE inspect"09:57
dtantsurI don't think we support devstack with baremetal10:00
dtantsurI'm pretty sure you'll have to do some manual network configuration with ovs10:00
Nisha1dtantsur, will inspector work if inspector-dhcp is not up but neutron is up and working10:01
dtantsurno, it won't it10:02
dtantsurwe don't rely on neutron currently at all10:02
Nisha1dtantsur, ok, when u initiate inspection through ironic, do u need ironci port to be created?10:03
dtantsurno10:03
Nisha1as i understand deploy_kernel and deploy_ramdisk parameters are also not required10:03
dtantsurthe most likely cause of your problems is that https://github.com/openstack/ironic-inspector/blob/master/devstack/plugin.sh#L255-L264 was never tested and probably does not work with hardware as opposed to VMs10:03
dtantsurit might work, but I have no clue. you may want to ask sambetts, he's much better in virtual networking10:04

lucasagomesjlvillal, that was the initial idea to have nova and inspector syntax15:12

* dansmith runs21:01
* rloo catches up with dansmith in spain... grrr...21:01
dansmithheh21:01
