sean-k-mooneyfungi: clarkb: by the way was i talking to one of ye about testing zuul with openshift 4  a while ago?13:50
sean-k-mooneyits not really ready for upstreaming yet but i might propose https://github.com/SeanMooney/ansible_role_devstack/tree/master/ansible/roles/ensure_microshift to the zuul jobs repos eventually13:51
sean-k-mooneymicoshift will be a edge optimised version fo openshfit that will target 1 core and 1GB of ram 13:52
sean-k-mooneyand you know rasberry pi class hardware13:52
sean-k-mooneyit will be a while before the okd/fully opensoce version is updated to a recent openshfit (its currently 4.8 based) but i might add source build supprot to build the rpms for microshift with 4.10 to the role13:53
sean-k-mooneyi know the zuul dev has moved to matirx so i can bring it up there in the future when its a little more robust13:54
sean-k-mooneybut ya just wanted to give ye an fyi i have that wrapped into a molecue senario https://github.com/SeanMooney/ansible_role_devstack/tree/master/molecule/microshift that deploy it in a centos 9 stream vm13:55
sean-k-mooneyusing molecule vagrant13:56
fungioh, neat. yes one of the recent-ish challenges with testing openshift is that it seems to have replaced the operating system rather than being installable on an operating system14:19
sean-k-mooneyyes which is a pain14:19
fungigood to know someone's working on an openshift you can deploy into a running operating system rather than directly onto virgin metal14:20
sean-k-mooneyso the normally way to install it on coreos is via ignition14:20
sean-k-mooneyand for the edge deployment they likely will move to os-tree eventurally14:20
sean-k-mooneybut they plan to support install via a singel podman contiaenr or rpms too14:20
sean-k-mooneyright now im just installing the all in one rpm14:20
sean-k-mooneythe micorshfit repo has already updated to 4.10 but they have not done a release sicne that was done so i was considering just automating the rpm build steps14:21
sean-k-mooney4.8 is proably fine for zuul testing 14:22
sean-k-mooneyit would be nice to just have molecule converge -s zuul14:22
sean-k-mooneyand have it just use podman/docker compose and deploy zuul14:23
sean-k-mooneyand point it to either the all in one podman microshfit ro jsut do the rpm install14:23
sean-k-mooneyi havent got the podman image workign personally due to issue talkign to crio and network permissions14:24
sean-k-mooneyhence why i use the rpm14:24

opendevreviewLajos Katona proposed openstack/project-config master: Add py38/py39 jobs to Grafana  https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/project-config/+/84559614:28
fungimakes sense. and yeah, being able to validate nodepool changes against a modern version of openshift would make all of us a lot more comfortable reviewing changes for that driver14:34
*** dviroel is now known as dviroel|lunch14:54
clarkbsean-k-mooney: ya the main thing zuul is interested in is ensuring it is talking to the APIs properly. It doesn't need to do any crazy workload in testing so something like that would probably work15:48
*** soniya29|ruck is now known as soniya29|ruck|dinner16:02
sean-k-mooneyclarkb: I assume ye already have a zuul job that deploy zuul with ansible/docker-compose16:03
sean-k-mooneyclarkb: so in theory you would just run the ensure_microshfit rule before that and you could then take the kubeconfig and pass that to nodepool16:04
sean-k-mooneyi have not really looked into it in detail but i just tought ye might be interested. im partly doing this work as a side project so im not spending too much time on it16:05
*** dviroel|lunch is now known as dviroel16:06
clarkbya we have a job that does a zuul quickstart with docker-compose16:10

*** soniya29|ruck|dinner is now known as soniya29|ruck16:32
fungiwe also have existing openshift jobs for nodepool, we just can't upgrade them past where openshift stopped being installable in a traditional sense16:44
