nibalizerjeblair: so my thinking there is that it is just a control flag, what seems weird?17:07
jeblairi don't think it's a good way to say that pip should be installed (in each of many random packages) and there's no dependency relationship expressed, so the ordering is not guaranteed17:08

fungithe tricky part here is that it's trying to bootstrap pip from the default package provider so that the pip package provider will work, but if pip is already installed from not-the-distro then this could effectively downgrade it17:09
fungisuch as in our case17:09
fungiso maybe there's a way to have that conditionally test whether there's a pip executable in the default path and install the system package for it if not?17:10
jeblairi feel like either keeping the pip module (so that we can express dependencies and possibly even add logic to handle what fungi just said), or doing nothing at all (you have to have pip installed.  good luck.)  are maybe the best options?17:10

dstufftwhich is because fedora is using pip to install python packages now during the rpm build process17:18
fungidstufft: i meant more that the current python-pip packages in ubuntu pull in other python libs as dependencies, when we generally want to install newer versions of those via pip, and that gets us back to pip and dpkg duelling over the same libs17:19
fungijust look at all the python-.* red dots at http://packages.ubuntu.com/trusty/python-pip17:20

pleia2./install_puppet.sh20:51
pleia2./install_modules.sh20:51
pleia2at the very least20:51
pleia2from there the work begins with only installing gerrit20:51
dkehnpleia2: ok, thx20:52
pleia2the core of what you'll need is creating a file like http://git.openstack.org/cgit/openstack-infra/system-config/tree/modules/openstack_project/manifests/review.pp but with your own info20:52
pleia2that calls upon the puppet-gerrit module which was pulled in with install_modules.sh20:52
pleia2I'm not going to claim this will work perfectly though, please do ask/submit patches/bugs on storyboard if you run into issues20:53

xnoxpleia2: no wonder you say that "jenkins is not a problem" for openstrack infra =) given the21:08
xnox"minimal plugins, minimal history, no artifacts" approach to jenkins =(21:09
mordredyup21:10
mordredxnox: well, one of those is a choice to produce the other21:10
xnoxmordred: i'm trying to setup my own jenkins, and i really don't want it to fall over =(21:11
mordredyeah - I hear that - I recommend using as few features of jenkins as is possible21:11
mordred:)21:11
xnoxwell my jobs all produce TAP based output, and i have snapshot of current data.21:11
xnoxand i was hoping to inject those into jenkins to get graphs / history / current status / notifications.21:12
xnoxnow i'm pondering if that's the right approach or not.21:12
JayFmordred: I'm going to send an email out about it before it merges, but that's going to be closer the end state of that than not.21:12
mordredwell... it kinda depends21:12
mordredxnox: we run twice the workload of all of travis-ci around here21:12
mordredso our scale issues may not be the same as yours21:12
xnoxmordred: ha =)21:13
* xnox likes travis-ci -> i want an opensource version to be honest21:13
JayFmordred: We're going to use that to build images that contain ironic-python-agent, ironic-discoverd and (future) a PXE ramdisk equivalent21:13
JayFmordred: and I'm going to lay it out and support it in such a way that should other projects want to use it, they'll be welcome to21:13
xnoxmordred: well, and i like how your job config is not actually stored in jenkins, but in yaml files.21:15
sdagueoh look eventlet passes python3 in travis now - https://github.com/eventlet/eventlet/commit/449c90a50965af369c91c0175b19de83f0d3a030 (for random friday news)21:16
