arosen1fungi:  is there a reason why you wouldn't want those two to match up?19:33
fungiarosen1: in our case we run in public cloud providers and there's no need to operate at our maximum quota all the time19:34
fungiarosen1: the gearman integration with zuul makes it possible for nodepool to fairly effectively figure out when it needs to burst upward19:34
arosen1fungi:  gotcha thanks19:36
fungiarosen1: so that way we boot ~900 instances (at the moment) when there are more pending jobs than we can run concurrently, but when we're idle we have only about 100 instances sitting around waiting to run jobs as needed19:36
arosen1gotcha, nice feature to save resources.19:36
fungiarosen1: there are some nodepool users who, to save on cost since they pay for virtual machines by the minute and have an intermitted job load, run with a min-ready of 0 so nodepool only creates instances when there are jobs to run (that adds some latency to getting job results, but minimizes cost)19:37
