fungiso that puts us at 4x Red Hat which is not a majority (just barely)00:00
tonybfungi: Yeah so close00:00
fungiyay! once again i avoid ending up back on the tc ;)00:00
fungigood work everyone!00:00
tonybfungi: congrats!00:01
ianychoi[m]Congrats!00:01
fungii'm celebrating over here00:02
ianychoi[m]Thank you all - since Tony is working on finalizing stuff, I will see and try to +1 on the upcoming reviews :)00:04
tonybianychoi[m]: Tahnks00:10
tonybGah Thanks00:10
tonyblooks like update-goverenance is very broken :(00:10
fungialso, in case it was missed in #openstack-tc discussion, the reference/members.yaml is supposed to list the start month/year now since recent bylaws changes make it hard to accurately predict the end month of a term00:12
ianychoi[m](Executing update-governance on my local machine now)00:14
ianychoi[m]It works except some DPL project items to reflect PTL results00:16
tonybianychoi[m]: Yeah DPL projects are the worst affected.00:17
tonybianychoi[m]: Also it doesn't do the TC side of things00:18
tonybianychoi[m]: https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/governance/+/874042 I added you as a reviewer00:19
tonybianychoi[m]: https://review.opendev.org/q/topic:2023.2-elections for the 2 changes00:20
tonybfungi: Why do we include the Foundation memberid for the TC members: https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/governance/+/874042/1/reference/members.yaml#6000:24
fungithat makes it easier to look up their membership and affiliation since there are affiliation limits00:28
fungitc members have to be individual members of the foundation in good standing, and a strict majority cannot have the same affiliation00:30
tonybAh okay.00:30
tonybI have a script that looks that up but keys off the emaila ddress rathr than than storing the memberid00:30
fungiyeah, i don't think it's strictly necessary to include, fwiw00:31
fungiwe have an api we can query with the address already00:32
tonybyeah I use lookup_osf() from the elections code :)00:32
tonybanyway it was "new" to me so I was curious00:32
fungiin theory the governance site sphinx extension could use those to hyperlink their rows to foundation member profiles, i suppose (but it currently doesn't)00:34
tonybYeah we could do that00:34
gmanntonyb: ianychoi[m]: so we are closing the election or keeping TC campaigning period  ?00:45
fungithey can campaign, but there's no poll at the end of it if they do00:46
gmannyeah i know there is no election00:47
gmannin one of the election we did wait for the TC campaigning before closing the election even there was no poll00:47
fungithough we had at least one ptl poll that time, if memory serves00:48
gmannit was both case. 1 PTL election and no election at all but  there was TC campaigning  period 00:59
gmannthese are example from previous two election with no poll but still campaigning https://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-discuss/2022-February/027311.html  https://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-discuss/2021-August/024402.html01:03
gmanntonyb: ianychoi[m]: let's do that for this cycle too and after that we can close the election. Even there is no poll but it will give chance to community to ask query to new TC members. somtime thre is no question but still good to open the window 01:04
ianychoi[m]Thank you for the opinons - I will announce TC campaign period now01:10
fungithough i do wonder what the expected outcome of that will be. unless a discussion prompts a tc elect to change their mind and decide not to be on the tc at all, the tc members will still be the same set of people with or without the campaigning period (and nothing should stop the electorate from asking them questions whether or not there's an election underway)01:11
tonybI fell like having a period where people can get to know the new TC members is fine.  Having said that I feel like the community is smaller now and the newly appointed TC members are well known.03:33
