corvusinfra-root: ^ fix (cc clarkb ianw )20:02
Clark[m]corvus I'm on my phone right now but that change lgtm if you want to self approve it20:17
Clark[m]It should land quickly too20:17
Clark[m]Otherwise I can approve after some lunch maybe 5-10 minutes 20:20
clarkbI went ahead and approved it20:32
opendevreviewJames E. Blair proposed opendev/system-config master: Add Jaeger tracing server  https://review.opendev.org/c/opendev/system-config/+/85598320:42
corvusclarkb: thanks!20:42
opendevreviewMerged opendev/base-jobs master: Fix pypi upload secret  https://review.opendev.org/c/opendev/base-jobs/+/85598020:51
fungifrickler: just to follow up, what you experienced was due to a bug which was preventing openinfra.dev profile information from getting synchronized to openstack.org profiles, but it should be fixed as of the past hour or so if you want to try again at your convenience21:03
fungi(i was able to reproduce the problem, and can confirm it's working for me now at least)21:04

corvusinfra-root: anyone know of a reason that we add footers to the zuul mailing lists?  it seems like we should generally avoid that to reduce the chances of needing dmarc mitigation (and, you know, just actually being able to validate signed messages)21:33
fungicorvus: no idea, we've certainly turned them off on some other lists. but also not sure how much of that will change or will help when we migrate to mm321:34
fungi(i get the impression the mailman project mostly gave up on making it possible to avoid altering messages forwarded through lists)21:35
corvusif there isn't a known good reason to keep them, i'd like to remove them21:35
fungii'm in favor of making that change21:35
corvusfungi: oh hrm, i thought there was still a pretty small set of things to do to avoid alterations...21:36
fungias far as dmarc-related things, yeah the current plan is to do thorough delivery tests in production with the lists.opendev.org mailing lists after migration, and then apply any lessons learned for other sites21:37
corvus#status log removed `msg_footer` option from zuul-discuss and zuul-announce mailing lists21:37
opendevstatuscorvus: finished logging21:37
fungiit seemed to me like the mailman maintainers had more or less given up on the idea that you could hope to pass dkim-signed messages through unmolested and put all their effort into the various mitigation options they implemented instead (address rewriting and such). but it's very hard to properly test that without having real lists moving real traffic to real subscribers21:38
corvusi do dmarc sign my messages, but have a liberal dkim policy21:41
corvus(so that's the case that my messages will be testing :)21:41
fungisure. i mean i can also just send something to a list and diff what i get back to see which headers could potentially be a problem21:51
fungithat doesn't necessarily require signatures21:51
