mrkikofungi: corvus: hi! I'm testing it right now. Unfortunately, the cursor movemenets are still not very consistent. I press enter on a change but I find myself in another, and the cursor goes continously up on the right angle of the screen, when the "Sync:" gets updated with the nmber of synced changes. Hope I've been clear.08:06

fungiyeah, i no longer see startup errors from ptgbot after my latest update to the ansible change to use the correct config file format16:25

ianwfungi: iirc it writes a .json file that is then picked up by some mostly static html, right?  is the apache deployment bits for that separate?21:22
fungiianw: yes, we likely need to grab the vhost config template from puppet-ptgbot21:29
ianwfungi: are the files in the container though?  or are we reverse proxying to it?  i'm not sure we worked this bit out21:33
opendevreviewIan Wienand proposed opendev/system-config master: gerrit: add its actions.config file  https://review.opendev.org/c/opendev/system-config/+/81227921:36
fungiianw: i don't know, i hadn't been paying close attention to it until i looked on friday to see why the jobs for that change were failing. i think the static files themselves would be included in the container image, and then the bot would write its state out to the directory mapped into the container from the host21:41
fungibut maybe the dockerfile for it is incomplete21:42
fungiis there an easy way to inspect container image contents? can they be mounted onto a loop device or something, like a disk image?21:42
ianwin this case i'd just run it and exec bash21:43
fungii meant could i just download the container image artifact and inspect the contents statelessly without installing docker tools on my workstation, but i suppose i could make a failing dnm followup and set an autohold for that21:45
ianwfrom what i can see, the source tree has a html/ directory but it's not installed in any way21:45
fungiyeah, that's what apache would normally serve21:46
ianwso the simplest thing would be to clone that into a /var/www directory on eavesdrop0121:47
fungiinstead of adding it to the dockerfile?21:47
ianwand then bind-mount the directory for the .json file into the ptgbot container, and have apache expose that21:47
ianwwell it won't help much in the container unless we also run something in there and reverse proxy to it21:48
fungioh, right21:49
ianwthat said, a bunch of static files could probably be served by python's http.server without issue21:49
ianw(which could be run separately in the container, or i guess as a thread of the current daemon)21:50
fungior we could put the ptgbot site on static, dump the files there, and then just serve the bot's json file from eavesdrop21:51
fungior proxy to it like we so with the meetings site21:52
fungithough that gets into a bigger redesign of what's already been written21:52
ianwtwisted.web.static might be an option21:56
ianwit seems most sane to try and keep it all in the one container.  otherwise it's no so much contained as ... i dunno, the opposite of that :)21:58
fungileaking22:01
fungii guess the bot startup could copy the static content files from the container into a mapped directory which apache outside the container would serve, but yeah still feels like a layer violation of some sort22:02
ianwi can try modifying ptgbot to copy the html and modify the docker to run a http.server on a port.  that seems the most logical thing.  apache can reverse proxy to that, and we can set it to basically infinitely cache22:04
fungii should be able to help or review shortly, my workstation is tied up building python 3.10 to switch my default python3 over to22:11
fungistill need to rebuild my venvs22:11
fungithe openstackclient venv sure takes a while to recreate :/22:12
ianwok, i have it installing and serving, i think this can work22:55
