kata-irc-bot1<bergwolf> likely I missed your message. If I don’t answer it, feel free to dm me02:18
kata-irc-bot1<bergwolf> and yes it does. there is a Shutdown call if you look at the shimv2 API02:19

kata-irc-bot1<dgibson> Does anyone know how to view the agent logs?  I thought there was something to forward them through to the host syslog, but they're not showing up there04:52

kata-irc-bot1<fidencio> @dgibson, using CRI-O + shimv2?07:18
kata-irc-bot1<dgibson> @fidencio no, podman07:18
kata-irc-bot1<fidencio> Okay, podman and shimv1 ...07:18
kata-irc-bot1<fidencio> https://github.com/kata-containers/documentation/blob/master/Developer-Guide.md#enable-full-debug07:19
kata-irc-bot1<fidencio> Have you tried that?07:19
kata-irc-bot1<fidencio> Seems that we're really good at missing each others message, because I missed this one /o\07:20
kata-irc-bot1<fidencio> I thought the shutdown request was at the *container* level, not at the *pod* level.07:21

fidenciojodh: Morning James!07:31
fidenciojodh: silly question about the packaging ... kata provides the ubuntu packages (built via OBS) and *also* snap builds?07:31
jodhfidencio: Morning - yes, that's correct.07:35
fidenciojodh: any specific reason of why we do both? in the end of the day, don't the packages have exactly the same functionality?07:37
*** sgarzare has joined #kata-dev07:41
jodhfidencio: the hope was always that our packaging would be temporary until distros provided their own for Kata. We added snap support as it meant you could install Kata even more simply on Ubuntu. We've been trying to deprecate specific distro packaging for a while - see https://github.com/kata-containers/kata-containers/issues/198 where I propose we stop packaging for Ubuntu (just provide a snap07:43
jodh;)07:43
jodhthe problem is "momentum" I think - we keep doing what we've always done ;) But at this juncture we really need to fix the issue since all the packaging and CI environments adds real costs to the project.07:44
fidenciojodh: ack!07:46
fidenciojodh: so, I'm changing the documentation to reflect better what we do, what we don't do ... and if it gets merged we can stop packaging what's not documented07:47
fidenciojodh: I'd drop instructions for the ubuntu packages07:47
fidenciointeresting enough, we provide two solutions for ubuntu and none for the stable debian07:48
jodhfidencio: debian has always been difficult as we don't have any prominent community members from that project (which is a real shame imho).07:51
fidenciojodh: I agree. Do you mind if I add a column to the table we have with a PoC for specific distros?07:52
jodhfidencio: sure - go for it! ;)07:52
fidenciojodh: for now it'll be empty, but then I'd drop an email and people taking care of opensuse (sascha? ralf?) can jump in, we'll have Eduardo (who's the person taking over Fedora / CentOS / downstream) to jump in as well07:53
fidenciowith that we at least now for sure who to ping in case something goes wrong07:54

kata-irc-bot1<fidencio> @rhafer, you don't happen to have a SLE 15 SP1 / SP2 VM  nearby that you could just do a `cat /etc/os-release` and share the output, don't you? :slightly_smiling_face:10:01
kata-irc-bot1<fidencio> (any of those, no need to be both)10:01
kata-irc-bot1<rhafer> ```NAME="SLES" VERSION="15-SP2" VERSION_ID="15.2" PRETTY_NAME="SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP2" ID="sles" ID_LIKE="suse" ANSI_COLOR="0;32" CPE_NAME="cpe:/o:suse:sles:15:sp2"```10:02
kata-irc-bot1<rhafer> That would be SLE-15-SP210:02
kata-irc-bot1<fidencio> perfect! thanks!10:02

kata-irc-bot1<bergwolf> that last container shutdown is shutting down the pod11:05
kata-irc-bot1<fidencio> Right, let me dig through the containerd code with that info in mind,  Thanks a lot!11:07
fidenciojodh: done the forward port to 2.011:50
jodhfidencio: thanks! ;)11:51
fidencionp!11:51
fidencionow it's a matter of checking kata-deploy documentation, updating it if needed / creating if not existent, and then we can finally drop packaging work for 2.0 and lower the amount of maintenance on 1.x11:51
