prodriguez83Does cloudkitty still continue to bill instance hours even for instances in a shutdown state?02:05

aolwasprodriguez83: for csv output, you need to change the output backend to csv in your cloudkitty configuration file09:14
aolwasprodriguez83: for the instance rating, it depends on your collector09:14
aolwaswith ceilometer collector, since the instance metric has been removed, we use the cpu metric to check the instance presence during the collecting period. So if your instance is shutdown, you may not have cpu consumption during the collect, so it will not be rated09:17
aolwaswith gnocchi, we use the resource start time and end time, the latter being set when the instance is destroyed. So even if you're instance is shutdown, it'll still be rated09:18
aolwasThe behavior should always be the instance lifetime (and not uptime) but it's not possible anymore with the ceilometer collector (since Ocata)09:20
aolwasWe should update the documentation to add this limitation for the ceilometer collector09:20

prodriguez83aolwas: Thanks, So i'd like to not charge for instances in shutdown state and I am using gnocchi. So currently there is no way to do that? Or to charge a lower rate if in shutdown state?13:10

prodriguez83It looks like CPU is logged in the DB and shows 0 when shutdown even with gnocchi. I can need to figure out how to modify report to not include lines with 0 cpu14:34
