Arrfabdmsimard: confirmed that ara on the c8 container seems to work, but when willing to have ansible itself on el7, one has still to pip install ara15:10
Arrfabdmsimard: and that's the only one available for pip/python2 ? Successfully installed ara-1.3.215:18
Arrfabseems so :)15:19
Arrfabdmsimard: ERROR! Unexpected Exception, this is probably a bug: No module named ara.clients15:25
Arrfabargh : https://github.com/ansible-community/ara/issues/7215:37
Arrfabso I thought that python3 was only required for ara-server, reason why in a el8 container it would work with python315:38
Arrfabso exposing http and using ansible itself on a el715:38
Arrfabbut it seems even the http client for callback needs to be python3 ? if so, that doesn't even make sense trying to build a container for that , if host also needs to have same version :)15:39
dmsimardArrfab: the callback and http client could be made to work with python2, the API server can't16:49
dmsimardYour Ansible runs from an el7 machine ? Not el8 ?16:51
Arrfabdmsimard: yes, as least that's what I was trying : ansible host on el7 and ara-server in a el8 container17:01

dmsimardArrfab: right, so I thought you meant the other way around -- hosting the API on an el7 machine (running an el8 container) and running Ansible from el817:42
dmsimardI don't really have a great suggestion, I'm not very interested in supporting py2 things in any official capacity :(17:44
dmsimardIf your Ansible control node can be el8, that'd probably be the easiest way17:46
nahunJust started running Ansible on el7 with py3. A colleague of mine got selinux module on it running and it works fine.18:55
nahunrunning the ara server on it in a venv is good19:11

dmsimardnahun: venv works but I don't think Ansible is packaged in py3 on el7 and yeah libselinux is missing20:46
dmsimardThere's https://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=16389 for missing libselinux20:46
nahunmy coworker compiled the selinux module on el7 to make it work20:48
nahunwe had been trying to get el8 to work with our puppet setup for a while so I could have proper py3 support until he got that working20:49
nahunbut yeah, I guess no Ansible package in py on el7. I just use venvs always.20:49
dmsimardnahun: did you end up figuring out how to host from a subdirectory ?22:47
nahunno, didn't put a whole lot of time into it unfortunately. Just did a different port22:51
